He presented it as an assassination attempt when it sounded like some crazy involved in a bad drug deal trying to find a house to charge into to hide out, not targeting Fuentes specifically at all. I don't think it's that complicated, the guy was out killing a few before and went to Nick's place, banged on his door yelling his name, and Nick didn't answer and the cops came. Just another psycho murder spree. It's not super common for someone at Nick's level of fame to be in one of those situations, but it does happen.
