Are you the guy that sent in $50 with the message test2? If so we got that today. It just takes time. I sent a bunch of postage supplies to the mail guy so we have a standardized system now.

The money probably doesn't get taken out until it cashed
That would be me. And that is awesome! I wasn't concerned with the time. The point was exactly what you said. It can take time.

I'm really happy it went through. Hope my posts didn't come off as a complaint.

i also sent 50 dollars via billpay, i want to make sure im doing it correctly before signing up for a monthly thing, because i dont trust my clerical skills very much :story:

EDITED to say that im not particularly worried about any possible perks or whatever, i just wanted to help out because i truly appreciate this forum existing..it is difficult to find a place in which one can exist without sticking out like a sore thumb, and everyone is so nice here too. that you do all of this for nothing is amazing, and i feel that it is the least i could do, i wish i could do more. 💙

Many banks will take money out when the check is mailed. Since these are usually a certified check where it's a guaranteed payout to the recipient.

Most of my billpay bank checks have been written on my account and go out with my account number. So they don't clear until they really clear. Just a note in my account saying it was sent.

Getting ready for the go-live, it might make sense to have a (collapsible?) list on the Billpay page of banks from which a user has successfully gotten a check sent.

People get worried about doing new things, especially with money and their bank accounts. If someone saw "oh OK, I'm Wells Fargo and that's one of the banks on this list," that gives them more reassurance, and more desire to poke around the Wells Fargo website to find billpay, because they know it's possible.

At least one of my banks will do that, but another won't until it's cashed and processed.

Both will see how it was processed and somehow turn some of them fully electronic and nearly instant.

question. as soon as i know my test payment went through, i am setting up a monthly payment for the 2nd friday of the month for 100 dollars, do i do it the exact same way as i did the one time payment? i would assume so, but i want to make sure, as there are no real instructions on my banks website.

So the system will be, I think, that the mail guy can visit once a week and get the mail sent out either the same day or by next Monday. It's whenever his schedule affords him.

He counted 15 separate envelopes with 44 total payments that add up to $1700. Pretty good for week one, thanks everyone.

Once they come in and are processed (probably Wednesday or Thursday?) I will pull the batch and finish the program for confirming payments (my local computer will pull the batch, process the information, and trigger the upgrades: no information will be sent or held on the Kiwi Farms server). Then there will be a proper "day one" with the advertising feature ready to go.

Obviously the biggest downside of this is the immensely delayed gratification in getting your upgrades but once it's set up it will be automatic.

Have you thought maybe doing a membership drive or something now that it's established? Maybe have a meter for a sign up goal? I really think it is important for the people who use this site to support it considering you've sacrificed a whole lot of your past and future to keep open a place where we can talk freely. There aren't very many places like the Farms left on the internet.

I think he meant he was going to do that once he feels everything is in place, so he's not scrambling. Hence "a proper 'day one' with the advertising feature ready to go."
