Im gonna go out on a limb here, but I'm pretty sure spaghetti and tomato sauce are pretty cheap in the US as well. Buying door dash might actually require more effort than cooking spaghetti and you can heat the sauce in one of those things for melting chocolate. So you don't even have to stir. I firmly believe poor people shouldn’t have to subsist on unappetising slop, but you can make plenty of tasty meals with very little money. On truly lean days someone could just eat the pasta sauce and pasta you shared and it would still be more appetising than sixty dollar room temperature Wendy’s. It’s usually cheaper just to make your own sauce from scratch and it’s about as difficult as mixing diced tomatoes, tomato paste and spices and letting it simmer. If you have extra money you can add some ground pork/beef and some veggies.
