Does anyone feel like the furry fandom as a whole has been on some kind of deathslide since the tranny invasion? It's like it lost its original horrifying charm. Well, It's either that or the fandom has somehow become extremely samey since the tranny invasion.

It was always like this, trannies for once, literally couldn't/can't shit it up worse than it already is/was. There's definitely been an uptick (Which let's be real, seeing an uptick of troons in a space full of mentally unstable degenerates and porn addicts who're major attention seekers with victim complexes is just par for the course) in how many troons enter and emerge out of the fandom, but I wouldn't think of trannies as the instigator to a decline, or a symptom of it.

I feel like all fandom spaces just been like that since Covid AKA when the average person invaded these spaces and tried to make it about themselves. The amount of clout chasing whores and nons is actually insane nowadays versus when it was mainly autistic weirdos here to fuck and make art.
The average person hoping to cash in by selling Furry-related crap, that is. Zootopia really was what opened the floodgates.

To echo Catboi, this has been more since Covid than since trans folks entered the space. Furry used to be a thing people do, another aspect of a greater whole. Post-Covid, furry has become the everything for a lot of people. Can't have non-furry friends, can't have non-furry interests. We're chasing clout among furries because that's the only way to "get ahead". It's not healthy for anyone, let alone the types of people who gravitate to furry. And it's why some of the big "discourses" are on endless repeat - you have conflict between the "furry is a thing I do" and the "furry is my entire existence" people.

Trust me, all the horrors are still there, they're just drowned out by the trans noise.

Invasion isn't the right word. This is a mental pathogen infecting the existing population. If a germ-spread disease were to make you ugly and kill you 41% of the time (or w/e it is now) we would call this a pandemic.

It's the perfect population for it to spread through too: beta males that hate their father and their sex in general, plays in to their fetish, and is an easy "get clout" button among furries. The real horror begins when the drugs castrate them and their friend circle has been replaced by mentally ill freaks that will disown and destroy them if they ever admit they fucked up.

It really feels like this is the case if you look at the nerd sphere as a whole and how trannydom seems to have infected every inch. I just miss my eternal punching bag that is the furry fandom.

This.

From Linux kernel drivers through to your boinkable animal pretends. It was the queers in the late 90s/early 2000s, and went straight into tranny kingdom. Anything nerd gets taken over by brokebrains. Back in the day they used to be highly intelligent- but now it's a religion of trannydom rather than just a weird fetish.

I dont remember the exact number from the poll years ago, but i think it was something like 1 in 5 furries was in STEM. So you had atleast one furry in every tech company, and the phrase "furries run the internet" actually had some level of weight back in the day. Now most of those places have been taken up by trannies. If I get off my "all furfags are degenerates" box for a second, back then being a furry seemed to carry some level of I guess respect in the tech world.

Well, no, not really. We still made fun of them- but they were usually good at their job. Back when I was a 4 digit ASN, I think a good 20% of the employees were furry, or furry adjacent.

The talk about furries in STEM reminds me of when Chive (is it chive? too lazy to remember her name) really loved reminding you that she's a furry who helped develop one of the Covid vaccines, with other furries glazing now and then making tweets going all "WHAAAAT? A FURRY HELP CREATE THE COVID VACCCINE?? THAT'S CRAZY!! SEE NOT ALL FURRIES ARE BAD!".

The woman's completely irrelevant in 2025 now as Covid has long stopped being the talk of the month and the constant discussions of it died down since late 2023.

But outside of her, many furries like to think them being in some big level field would ultimately convince people that "not all furries are bad". They've been at it for decades and it ain't stopping no time soon.

Or with them saying "oh we don't claim him" when a furry is outed as a bad person or outright monster.

Also did Lil Nas x troll furries that he was a furry.

"not all furries are bad".
The only furries that are tolerable are the ones who admit that they're in it for the weird cartoon porn or because it enables some other fetish. They're at least truthful to themselves (and others) with that admittance. The problem with furry on the whole is that it's a gateway to allow any other weird perversion in because it wears a goofy mascot costume over it.. and that's what makes it dangerous.

Oh i know I had friends and we would throw around the furfag slur like it was candy tho they would clap back with even harder roasting. It was a much different time back then.

oh no all furries are bad but its a mix of job security and levels of bad.

The issue isn't the troons. they were there before. The issue is social media. Ever since people realized that you can have a platform, absolutely regardless of how shit your takes are, it's been going downhill. Degerneracy was always rampant in the furry fandom (and really, any other fandom for that matter) but you just hear a lot more of it now because when people scream, it's no longer confined to some obscure ICQ chatroom.

They were there, but they weren't common. I survived dotcom, and I only knew of one, and they were quiet and reserved, and didn't wear it on their sleeve like a badge. They didn't pass very well, but they didn't demand anyone respect their pronouns, either. One of the nicest people I ever worked with.

Furfags, however, were prevalent fucking everywhere. The ones that didn't work with us were vendors somewhere. Thankfully enough none of our network guys were furfags- but we had some admins that were. They weren't on the UNIX side, so I barely dealt with them. They didn't wear tails at work, and didn't bark at unfamiliar people. They just did their damn job and kept their fetish to "off hours."

Do not forget he other letters. They not only spread on that same population but also kills you and leads t other killer diseases (GRID).

Ignoring how many furries have trooned out, I say that plenty o furrie still are all over tech. That is just a feeling, though.

You can find normies in every fandom. There is also how you define what a fuury is.

I've iterated this before many times here on the Farms, but as someone who was around when the "furries in IT" meme was actually a real thing the best way to explain it is that before the complete and total enshittification of the World Wide Web (for a multitude of reasons, pick your poison), "furries" were mostly just spergy and autistic white men and a few women who were into fantasy art. Since the guys were on the spectrum, they excelled at nerd shit like programming and the burgeoning web design industry. They wound up in IT because they had the skill set to get those jobs back when companies still hired you based on merit and not your pronouns.

This led to furries "running the Internet" by virtue of them being qualified for those roles, and this maintained for quite some time. It was very commonplace for furry websites to just be completely self-hosted and self-maintained by a staff of people who already had the skills to do all that and thus did not need to outsource it to someone else.

When the Internet started to go to shit, the wrong kinds of people got in and the bar for kicking around in the fandom and contributing to it was so low it was practically underground. Furries playing a big role in IT/STEM these days is really no longer true. They are just about everywhere because there is no cohesion and no shared "culture", as ridiculous as that sounds. Back in the 80's and 90's if you were into furry (then, "funny animals" or "anthopomorphics") you pretty much all read the same physical print comics and you went to the same Usenet groups and message boards. The world was a lot smaller. Everyone had that in common, you could ask someone what they thought about the latest Albedo or Wild Life or something and they'd probably have an answer.
