I'd argue that's more a problem with the internet as a whole as opposed to what anyone's doing with it. You have the freedom to watch and consume any content you can think of. Unfortunately, to a small sect of people, that means they can focus in on one particular person or object of interest and obsessively consume every tiny scrap of content to do with them, be it text, audio, video, etc.it is similar in principle, but it's dialed up in intensity by several orders of magnitude
with traditional celeb shit, your interaction with the target of your obsession is very limited. you can consume the media they produce and shitty tabloid media gossip about them, but you don't get anywhere near as close as you do when you can watch the target live on stream all day every day.
Essentially, this is why we can't have nice things. Eventually it gets taken to its logical extreme and exploited, and the consequences of that come to roost.
