Although I'm slightly hesitant to take that 48% figure as 100% natal women, there's always been a large minority of women gamers, even if it doesn't appeal to every woman. Hell, even in the 80s when arcades were big, games like Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and Centipede (Co-created by a woman) did gangbusters. When my town still had an arcade in the 90s and early, early 2000s, I'd say about a third of the people playing games were girls, but that was probably just because the parents of boys felt more comfortable leaving them in a poorly lit arcade for hours. Moreover when my city had a barcade before covid it was always a pretty popular date spot for couples, and was pretty evenly split so make of that what you will.I don't understand this talking point about how "gaming is men's space". Gaming as a whole has never been marketed for 1 sex even if you look at very early gaming console commercials. Just because men make up the majority of the market doesn't mean there are no women. Some games appeal more to men and some appeal to women and I'm not just talking about candy crush, but a lot of these retards think if its not dark souls or some fps shooter "its not real gaming".
I've gotta chuckle at people blaming random women gamers for the quality dip gaming has taken in recent years, conveniently ignoring the fact that most objectionable shit is put in games so studios can grift that sweet, sweet DEI money.
