Gen Alpha is kind of a wild card right now, lol.
Gen X rejected much of their boomer parents’ programming because they correctly identified that such programming did not include them in the profitability statement.
Gen X were told unionism was bad by a generation of parents who grew up on union jobs, and told not to expect a ‘job for life’ by parents who worked for the same company for thirty-plus years.
Boomers controlled mainstream culture for-profit, dumbed-down and sanitized to the point of retardation. Gen X turned their back on it and made their own music, films and TV. And let’s not forget that X were the first online generation.
Boomers sold off much of the economy’s machinery (especially manufacturing) for a quick dividend, destroying jobs, and told Gen X to compensate by accruing crippling college debt to try to get a job that was hardly guaranteed. And then in a final fuck-you, they ushered in political correctness which muzzled speech, and led to ‘woke’ in which the remaining fruits to be plucked from the rapidly decaying economy were given to niggers, faggots, beaners, and women- anyone not ‘stale, pale and male’.
I see a lot of parallels between X and Alpha. Economy is even more fucked. College is beyond ridiculous. Jobs are scarcer. The culture is even more shallow, consumerist and smoothbrained. Mechanisms of social and cultural control are slowly expanding, cutting away at rights and freedoms. AI is poised to devastate a lot of jobs and intrusively monitor and spy on much of what’s left in the name of ‘efficiency’. Wokeness is off the charts, and the fucking boomers are still in charge.
I’m confident Gen Alpha is going to be Gen X II. They are going to be so locked-out of everything that makes a society successful and harmonious that they too will have no option but to reject the mainstream and forge their own path.
And I’m pretty sure by that time, they won’t feel guilt, or obligation to anyone but themselves. They’ll be the battleground generation that determines whether we descend into an AI-monitored economic slave state or wholesale reject that vile future. I wish them nothing but success.
