I would argue that pinning all this violence on the decades of Radical Leftist ideology is both true and false. Obviously the radical rhetoric led in part to all this, make no mistake, but I really think the main unspoken issue is our society is becoming more nihilistic, self-secluded, selfish, digital, myopic, and all of this leads to more violence.
All of these shooters have left messages saying ‘fuck this guy’, ‘fuck that organization’, ‘fuck this fuck that’. It’s about something they don’t like and therefore are willing to die to inflict harm. They aren’t acting out a coup, they aren’t terrorists saying ‘our group did this because of this’, most aren’t even active in voting or more benign political activities. They are individuals who perceive that they have no worth except for the ideas they’ve pledged themselves to and those ideas act as an excuse to cause harm against those they hate.
The Boston Bombers were (officially) White Nationalists retaliating against the feds for Waco and other things, Uncle Ted was an anarcho-primitivist with personal ideological motives hoping to spur a revolution, 9/11 was international politics and religion, but now what we have are individual actors who want to hurt people first and justify it second. That is much more dangerous, and I believe it’s because of the aforementioned reasons combined with violent rhetoric.
When you have a large amount of people with no hope, no worth, and nothing to do some will absolutely act out in terrible ways. You can’t value the lives of others if you don’t value yourself, and the diminishing of people’s personal value is another topic but it’s one of the biggest evils that have come from the top down.
Be careful out there bros.
