The Weimar government outright banned Nazi speakers from giving public speeches and arrested like half of their leadership, it certainly didn't stop the German people from embracing the next Chancellor.

Creating some kind of punishment system against certain beliefs is not going to scare the average joe into not embracing that ideology unless that ideology is already anti-social and unpopular, at which point attempting to silence them is completely unnecessary.

If the movement actually reflects the concerns of the average joe and offers tangible solutions that the current social order can't, browbeating them and publicly humiliating them is just going to make people more sympathetic to the ideas you're attempting to silence.

Not every idea you disagree with is the equivalent of Flat Earth, where simply looking at them and calling them stupid is enough to completely destroy their entire ideology. The only way to combat a genuinely seductive idea is to debate it publicly, not shame anyone who holds it.

The shame route is the reason the US went from electing Obama twice to electing Donald Trump.

I would nof go as far as saying the average German embraced Hitler. That implies he was elected. He never was. The Nazis didn't even win a majority in 1932.

The Nazis were just willing to rapidly eliminate any and all opposition, leading to absolute authority and power into a single figure head, with disastrous results.

German's killing the opposition party is literally still happening today. The killing is just going in the opposite direction in current year. Is dey colcha

I really have no idea what you are referring to.
There's an upcoming election where it's believed the AFD will gain ground. Seven AFD members died in the weeks leading up to it. The other parties previously tried to ban the AFD as Nazi's or something. I didn't know that all of the deceased were like 60+ years old until just now. One of them being 80. None of the YT videos I saw mentioned that part.

The laws that the Weimar government passed ultimately did nothing stop the Nazis from gaining power. They did help the Nazis shut down opposition to them once they were in power and could turn the same laws against the people who put them in place. The current situation in Germany is certainly reminiscent of the past.

What leftists always fail to consider is that any government powerful enough to give them whatever they think they might want is also one that's powerful enough to take all of it from them when it's pointed in the other direction.

For a more ancient example, consider the dictator Sulla, who pioneered proscriptions as part of his reforms to fortify the Roman Republic's decaying democracy against the despoilations of demagogues. Then, consider who used proscriptions next: Marc Antony and Octavian, who learned from the late Caesar's fatal error of forgiving his former foes, and re-introduced proscriptions to purge those perfidious politicians who labeled themselves "liberators".

Didn't see anyone post this yet, great halloween costume

So black studies. The difference is instead of general black stuff it is a dedicated degree to a single part of black history. Shut up Will with your worthless black studies degree.
