The “he couldn’t have been a leftist, he was pro-gun!” argument is perhaps the dumbest and most ignorant argument I’ve heard. For one there is no evidence he was pro-2A at all (reminder that there was a sped who shot up a bank to make an argument about gun control). Secondly even if he was pro-gun, pro-gun leftists exist. Count me among the people who are surrounded in real life by liberal gravedancers. People all agreeing that the shooter was some right-wing 4chan poster. Laughing at Charlie's death, calling him a fascist with zero evidence, saying he deserved it with reasonings like "live by the sword, die by the sword."

The tough part is I've known some of these people for decades, and they're generally pleasant people otherwise. I love them. But man, it's really worrying to see the political poisoning show up in real life to people you know and love.
