Ian could very well be doped out of his mind on pot. To that end, isn't he also popping Adderall and SSRIs like Tic-Tacs? At any rate, Ian mixing pot into a cocktail of other psychotropic drugs ain't out of the realm of plausibility. However, it's a monumentally stupid idea to mix pot with adderall, let alone SSRIs. It's a running joke that pot is stronger "now" than it was "10 years ago," but post-legalisation in some states meant that THC levels skyrocketed. I'm not an expert on the physics or biochemistry involved with THC, but as a general rule, bad highs are much more common now (2020-onward) than they were in the past (2010 and before). Pot's known for making you giggly, retarded, and stupid but it also coincides with a ton of paranoia, anxiety, and dry mouth. Higher and higher THC concentrations (flower hovering around 25-30%, edibles hovering around 1000mg, resin cartridges hovering around 75-90%) only makes this phenomenon worse. You can theoretically mitigate it with CBD, but that's a whole other can of worms I'm not willing to discuss for the time being. For now, let's just assume Ian's buying high THC flower since his house was confirmed to reek of the stuff.

Adderall is a medically sanctioned form of amphetamine, and we all know tweakers are paranoid, anxious, and have meth mouth for similar reasons. SSRIs have black box warnings mandated by the US federal government urging immediate medical intervention if you start experiencing anxiety or paranoia, with dry mouth as a possible side effect. If Ian is bipolar or schizophrenic (not sure if he actually is, but let's say he is for argument's sake), THC can actually make it worse. Studies in recent years are also correlating higher THC consumption in males with an increased risk of schizophrenia, but the jury's out on anything definitively conclusive. At any rate: pot damn sure ain't a good thing for Ian considering how much shit he's either on or voluntarily abusing. Whether or not Anisa is the one pulling the strings, if he has undiagnosed CTE, or anything else along those lines is irrelevant. There ain't anything good to come out of him specifically using pot.

Not a weed expert but I'd been around many who consume it daily and for years. Have tried it myself multiple times. I haven't considered this theory before, but it would make a lot of sense. Weed affects everyone differently but for many, it makes them very slow and lethargic while their logic stops making sense to people around them. Ian consuming lots of weed to not have to think about how horrible his life is would make a lot of sense, it makes you check out completely if you're one of the people who get slow and lethargic from it. And, if what Anisa says is true (that all he does is sleep and eat) it would support this theory. They keep claiming he doesn't have brain damage, but he sure talks like someone who just gobbled down an edible, so we must ask:
