As somebody who only got familiar with D20 games relatively recently, I wondered if this was the case.

Not like this is a surprise but Lily is really just in a state of arrested development. Everything she liked when she was growing up was the Good and Best way to do something and anything that changes is Bad. There are reasons to dislike newer game styles or streaming services, but she's not making any suggestion for how to evolve these things, things just saying, "Thing bad, better when I first saw thing, go back to first thing".

I assume it's a superiority of familiarity. She 'understands' the first thing more (I'm using that word loosely here), and any changes to that formula demand that you adjust your way of thinking and learn something new, which she is vehemently against. Shit, you can see this in her nigh-Luddite attitude toward technology and how she feels superior because she... turned off automatic Windows updates. And can't figure out how her phone works. And screamed at people to stop sending her subs on Twitch instead of just turning off the alert sound.

The best DnD is the edition that she played that one time in middle school, because it's based on Baldur's Gate, which she played during her formative years. The best video game is Kingdom Hearts II and no action game has ever come close and nothing is wrong with it and all games should just be that times a billion, unless they're World of Warcraft. Pokemon should just be Gen III over and over again and stop trying to iterate or improve the formula. All TV should be episodes you can watch in any order like it was in the good old days. Family Guy is still the pinnacle of comedy.

Not that there's anything wrong with enjoying things from when you were younger or thinking that modern entertainment is largely a pale imitation-- I'd argue we're in that cycle in a pretty literal way (everything big is either a franchise instalment or a remake). But Lily seems incapable of moving past that.

The only recent thing she's enjoyed seems to be media about cute lesbians, and I'm pretty sure it's not for the unique storytelling opportunities.

I don't know why Lily has such a hate boner for streaming services. There are tons of examples of high quality streaming shows. Some of these I haven't actually seen so I don't know if the quality actually holds up, although I think the fact I haven't seen them and have still heard about them at least says something:
Netflix has Stranger Things, Cobra Kai, Ozark, Squid Game and it used to have the Marvel shows, and while some of them are hit or miss, I think everyone seems to agree Daredevil was solid, especially the Netflix version specifically. Oh, and there's Bojack, Orange is the New Black, and Witcher. And that's a pretty big mix of old and new.
Hulu has Handmaids Tale and Only Murders in the Building. They had the King of the Hill revival recently as well. And probably more, it's the one I know the least about
Then there's shows like Ted Lasso and Shrinking on Apple TV. Oh, and how could I forget Severance

Those are just the ones that came to mind/showed up on a quick google search. I want to say the new Aliens show that's getting a lot of hype is also a streaming thing. Oh, and you also have Andor on the Disney side of thing, which is constantly being praised as not only a good Star Wars show in an era where that's exceedingly rare, but just one of the best sci-fi shows in general.

Thing is, Peet is for all intents and purposes a boomer, an old school horse that refuses to get with the times because they are that much of a zealot to try other stuff that isn't the typical flavor. You have to drag this fucker kicking and screaming to cover something beyond what they like, or try something else. They want control so badly that even mere suggestions are a threat to them.

Another reason is being forced to do so. There's no way they would've covered SU again if it wasn't for the fact the channel is currently hemorrhaging views and subscribers like no tomorrow.

The only presence Peet that they have is one of avoidance and scorn. Joon the king very much destroyed the brand they had built, even when they tried to change their name to salvage whatever it could.
