She's just a dysfunctional creature who has tried living in the world. Many disabled people have a place in society, work jobs, have relationships. I think it is just beyond her capabilities. I'm in favor of her either remaining in her parents' care or moving to a group home. She could have a much better life than what she's has and not be a menace to society. I don't think she has any place in jail. She would only either be a victim or learn worse habits.
Probably normal teenager shame about how much care she needed. Not eating circumvents a lot of the humiliating parts of care.
She needs to be institutionalized or kept at home. She doesn't need prison. She's just a maladaptive cripple that needs mercy. Does she need a baby and the freedom to drink? Absolutely not. Does she need to be in jail for years? No.
Without derailing the topic into prison reform, I would assume since Alex is a "disability influencer" and has stated many many times that disabled people should be treated the same as abled people (with needed accommodations, of course), that ALEX HERSELF would clearly want to not be treated special by the system. Surely she hasn't been spouting bullshit! Accessible prisons exist.
This. Fucked if I can remember where I read it, but she attributed her eventually weight gain to alcohol (its just empty calories)- which is very likely where her alcoholism really got its foot in the door.
