Everything else just reinforces that SnP is a bad writer. If Kai is supposed to be the selfish supporting character who needs to learn to accept the Warren, she absolutely fucked up by making him miles more sympathetic via his life being shit no matter where he goes, with his only friend being taken over by a gaggle of Sad(tm) assholes. It probably would have been a marginally better story if she just focused on an awful DID or outdated homophobia narrative, but no, she has to cram in as much representation as she possibly can. Message before story, just like so many great works of recent years like Veilguard and Dustborn.

When I was in high school we said faggot so much it was more or less just the same thing as bro. Actually even in grade school, literally before many of us even knew what it meant. So we'd use queer and fairy when we meant an actual homosexual sometimes. But I'm old.

And this is kind of a nitpick, but I don’t think a “rural, conservative town in the Deep South/redneck north” or whatever would have a huge shopping mall like this. I grew up in a mixed suburban/rural area with a moderately sized one story mall. You kinda have to drive closer to the bigger cities to get to the huge multi-level ones. I looked it up, and rural areas typically don’t have the population density or economic impact for one to survive. It’s not impossible, but it just isn’t very likely.
That aside, dear lord, justice for Kai.

HOW EVEN. There aren't any outlines, everything is hilariously disproportionate (check out how tall those doors are in comparison to the bunny in the top-right, then check the geese in the bottom-right and see how those match up), and almost nothing has any hint of basic detail. This is the kind of shit a grade-schooler would pump out in 40 minutes while observing a mall for the first time and trying to make it look accurate with nothing but crayons. No fucking way this guy spent more than an hour on this, unless he really is that bad at basic backgrounds.

Also worth noting that this guy has been drawing comics for AT LEAST EIGHT YEARS NOW so he can't even use inexperience as an excuse. (That's not accounting for the fact that he very well could have been drawing backgrounds before he started making this comic.)


Hell, you might actually be able to argue he's regressed. Here are a few more (relatively detailed) backgrounds of his from 2017-2020:

All of these either have comparable levels of detail or are arguably better, but the most recent background here was from five years ago.

Sorry, this is getting a bit needlessly irritated; I'm just so sick of subpar artists excusing shitty work with "oh it was painful to do" or "oh I can't do it better because it's so much work." So fucking sick of excuses for just being bad at your damn job, and it's even more insulting when it's being done in front of an audience of children who really should not be discouraged from picking up hobbies like these. If even one kid sees this faggot complaining about having to draw a basic storefront and decides he should avoid trying to challenge himself with complex scenes (or, heaven forbid, stop drawing all together), then he'll already have done too much damage.

I feel like we've been getting an increasing amount of redundant and generally unnecessary scenes like this. Was there a real point to the previous scene if it just abruptly cut off with the implication they gave him a tiny little smack and let him go about his day?

I don't get it, the artist CAN draw some nice backgrounds when he wants to, so how does it take him two days to scribble down some crayon approximation of a mall?

She even got called out by the original critic for dodging criticism, which is absolutely fucking impressive observation on her part because one of this critic’s main issues with the comic was that KAI IS TOO MEAN. LMAO

Does this bring SnP into proper cow territory yet, or does she need a more explosive meltdown first? Just asking.

EDIT: More (accidental) criticism from a few pages back, mainly in the form of a poor reader coping very hard over SnP's terrible fucking writing making negative sense. SnP actually saw and responded to this, too, but didn't grace this comment chain with the mountain of butthurt she afforded Ms. Tea Dragon back there.



Apparently, Niko knows about his friends somehow being homophobic, which is really making him border on comically fucking evil at this point. There's only one issue Kai has to deal with that can't be traced back to Nico by now-- his parents. The homophobic bullying, Percy's mental issues, Percy's slowly dying body, and almost everything to do with the Warren are directly Niko's fault in some way and I'd have a hard time believing SnP didn't intend for Niko to be some kind of cartoonishly evil villain... if I didn't know who was writing this.

Not yet, but if she's going this hard over criticism this mild (not just the wording, saying things like "Kai was abusive," despite what actually happened. Come on! ), we'll have to keep an eye on. Considering she keeps locking her comments down, I'm willing to believe she/her team are deleting shit.

This feels a bit too on the nose to not be intentional. Could be SnP has the self awareness of a rock but I do also wonder about the "systems" she confides in for "represenation"
