The Roblox Erotic Roleplay Community - "Roblox's ERP problem began in the mid 2010's as a quiet whisper. Over the next decade, this whisper would slowly grow into a blood curdling scream, audible from every corner of the platform."

They put a 100 game block limit for children. No idea if they've lifted it yet due to backlash.
Ok I didn't know what this meant so I looked it up. Why the fuck is there a limit of 100? Is it a technical limitation because if that's the case then that is something should have figured out from the outset because 100 is fucking pitiful.

Apparently the blocked user limit is 200? Is that also true because if so now I'm putting more fault on roblox than the parents. Like way more. I was like 75/25 on fault but now I'm more 95/5 if there's block limits that fucking low.

this is exactly the kind of task that LLMs are actually good for. you have LLMs scanning for POTENTIAL problems, they forward those potential problem messages to humans, and the human team reviews it. it's such an easy thing to do now that the fact that roblox hasn't already done it is evidence of non-interest in protecting the children they draw into their game.
Isn’t this how Ruben Sim made the ERP account list?

It used to be 100, but apparently they recently increased it to 1,000; I doubt anyone needs to block more than a thousand accounts so it should be fine. I wouldn’t be surprised if they just copied over the block limit for users to for games and never bothered to fix it. Still, such an oversight indicates lazy programming and a general disregard for child safety, which lines up with everything the corporation’s done.

Yeah that's really fucking bad. Good fucking lord. Now I want this to be brought up in court because this seems like a valid argument to bring up and I REALLY REALLY REALLY want the code snippet of their blocking stuff to be a matter of public record. The internet will pick that shit apart and it probably needs to be picked apart if they're that callous about it like they are about everything else.

this is exactly what happened in the 90s with the ESRB, and it actually worked out quite well. the esrb does exactly what it's meant to.
Tbh I'm not a fan of that, or the comics ratings that wrecked EC, or movie ratings, but they are marginally better than what the government would do.

So that's the blacklist limit. Do they have a whitelist? They seriously should.

Even back in 2010 there was so much copypaste content that it was impossible to sift through by hand. You had toddlers mashing PUBLISH PUBLISH PUBLISH because they don't understand that My Models was meant to be your original stuff, not whatever you want to bookmark. Pair that with malicious actors making an endless stream of accounts to bypass bans and even a single condo place experience to copypaste across all of them, and 100 blocks on a blacklist is fucking nothing. They NEED a games whitelist option instead. God, please tell me they have a games whitelist.

according to stock analysis, roblox has a valuation of 83 billion USD right now. there is no universe where a company worth 83 billion dollars cannot hire a coder who can make the blocklist not awful on the backend even if it hits thousands of blocks per user.

an alternative to that would be actually moderating your platform for more than the 50 seconds a day it takes for their trust and safety officer to goon himself into a stupor over the literal child predators he watches in the game.

Yeah Roblox really has no excuse here if they make this much cash. They have the money to pay people to fix their shit and they don't so they are mostly culpable with this entire situation. Well them and the predators. Now I hope they lost it all in the lawsuit. Only problem is if nothing happens to the CEO then is justice really served? He can probably just go somewhere else and continue his bullshit.

The Roblox parental controls are next to useless.

A few things I’d recommend they implement is a whitelisting policy for children. The parents have to manually add the user IDs of the other players their child is allowed to interact with. If a user is not added, the child will not be able to interact with that user, although they still might be present in the world. Likewise, profiles of non-friends would be restricted, and vice versa.

Additionally, it should be an option to only allow their child to visit the worlds/games they’ve approved or whitelisted.

These aren’t ironclad methods but they’re a far cry better than what’s currently being done.

I have a very distinct memory when I was a young kid on an AOL trailer. I was in the Pokémon chat room, like I always was after school, and I started getting some weird IMs from some other guy that was in the chat, worth noting that he never typed anything in the Pokémon chat itself. He did the cliched ASL shit, and then asked me how I looked and would then try to describe me as a Pokémon trainer to get me to further judge him.

You used to be able to report people for doing this sort of crap online and get a near immediate response from a human being. I reported the strange behavior and, within minutes, an admin of the platform reached out to me, asked what was going on, and handled the situation. I’m sure he smurfed with other accounts, but I was never bothered again.

I know this isn’t possible anymore, given the size of the Internet, but there are no good ways to report this shit and receive any sort of sense of solution. Everything is automated, or worse, handled by pajeets who don’t have any empathy, understanding, or are just vile fucks and get off to it.

My niece had her 11th birthday recently. Instead of having the usual birthday party at the skating rink or Discovery Zone ripoff, she and her friends had a party in Roblox. She was very excited to tell me about it and went on and on about how many people showed up. I’ve argued with her parents endlessly about the dangers of the game and it has fallen on deaf ears. I try my best to share in my niece’s excitement as she prattles on about this stuff, but I can’t help but dread over how many uninvited guests showed up to her little unvetted online party, and what their intent might be.

Ok this would be a far better system than what they have now. A limited whitelist is a much better idea than a limited black list even if it is limited. They should just change everything to white listing. Would make their parental controls so much better.

I don't know if you're joking or not, but here you go.
This guy looks like the creepy gym teacher in your high school that only ever talks to the freshman girls.

Watched asmongold play an hour of this. It's literally Second Life marketed to kids. Sex, gambling, ads for avatar shit, robux are linden dollars. It's all the same.
Watching asmongold is ALMOST as bad as this entire situation. Seriously though, as someone who's been on the site since 2011, even as a glue-sniffing middle schooler I knew the moderation on ROBLOX was god awful.

He's not great in long form for sure. I think this was the longest video of his I've ever watched.

So they can claim you can block the content and so Roblox can be able to say that they did something while leaving the chance on the table for your kids to be groomed and become groomers, groomers that generate revenue for the platform. When nothing makes sense, follow the money. It's pedo money all the way down with Roblox.

That is so blatant and right at the entrance so I am convinced any parents who didnt know this goes on don't monitor their bloody kids at all. ever
They don't. Many retarded parents just hand an iPad to their kids with Roblox on it, then accidentally stumble upon their kids witnessing simulated sex crap on their screen. Then they'll self-report their retardation on TikTok about how they blindly trusted a multi-billion dollar corporation filled with complete strangers to e-babysit their child. I genuinely don't understand how these people blindly trust everything just because it's online, and these are mostly Millennial parents that were some of the first to grow up with internet safety being taught to them. Fucking baffling amounts of stupidity. Next in line Boomers.
