Seriously though, this is quite possibly the most important thread in the entire farms, and the reason I've finally joined after lurking for years.
I hope Case IV also covers the rise of the himetroon and their disproportionate influence over everything.
You mentioned MtH and he's like, patient zero in the mashup autism scene (You also reminded me of the time he made a joke IRL video on a holocaust memorial and then memoryholed it, decent human being moment). Seriously, look up who made a Love Live or some other rhythm gacha mashup for Siivagunner or whatnot and you'll find, without fail, the bluesky account of some tyrannical, passive-agressive, irony-poisoned discord troon with a dilator to grind, and a feed full of yuri, correct opinions on US politics, and gushing over "girls" as a concept and how gay they (the posters) are, with "wholesome"/random discord humor sprinkled in. The most "benign" item is the usual autistic interests among them like deltatroon, sonic, or object shows for the spergiest of them all.
They're all like this.
Imagine hundreds, thousands of clones of him, and even then he's small potatoes compared to the cases I'm thinking of:
It's funny, all this postmodernist thought is the brainchild of french pedophile males, yeah, and it's shilled by satanic (mostly male) billionaires too, sure, but its numerous supporters, the footsoldiers of far-leftism, as seen on tumblr, livejournal, ancient IRL fandom meetings, have consistently been women, with their dyed hair, 600+ genders and misplaced empathy, so what these self-proclaimed feminist women do is elevate and worship men, the worst of them in fact (This behavior has allowed the radfems of today who were part of this mass to wash their hands of it entirely, and declare the whole thing an "MRA movement"). A perfect example happening right now is them guntguarding Hussie by declaring any criticism or callouts towards him "transmisogynistic"; they don't even have to say the magic words anymore, their fans do it for them. (Now I'm not saying men and trannies (men) are not part of this mass too. Reddit, something awful and youchew happened concurrently, go far back enough and you find sci-fi authors and college professors, but women have and continue to make up most of the numbers of it.)
So yeah, amazing work, the history of fandom and its effects IRL is usually covered from a shitlib, this-is-good, it-was-always-queer-only perspective, so exposes like this are much needed and appreciated.

That's me, I'm overlap. The western DR fanbase is awful with a few tolerable pockets, that goes without question, and WTC's is pretty bad in a weird chud-troon friendship way. Lotta 4troon cunnygger larpers into Higurashi, meanwhile Umineko got a second wind of popularity in the 2020's thanks to trannies astroturfing it because it coincidentially predicts and promotes their beliefs; and both groups bleed into each other. The latter is a literal cult, worst fanbase I've ever been in proximity of. Didn't consider the menhera overlap, that'd explain the self-diagnosers into both. (Corpse Party is in my backlog too though)
Ah yes, the tumblr sexyman poll, held by the King of the Band Kids Robert Fox, on Twitter, something nobody questioned. One of the most clown world moments in gaming history I can think of. Got the chop last year and somehow hasn't ACKed, he's into Uma Musume right now because of course he would be.
- cybershoujo, a Bang Dream (and Vocaloid) yuritroon. He was behind that unfunny mikumiku_ebooks account on shitter. He both set the mold for gimmick accounts on there to follow (as in, shill their politics throught them) and most importantly, got the official english Vocaloid account to egg him on, popularizing the HATSUNI MIKU AGREES WITH ME/CREATED THING BY PROBLEMATIC AUTHOR meme together. Twittards would disown him after he was exposed as a creep towards his younger female orbiters who proceeded to passionately defend him from misgendering while calling him out. He left his accounts and is still missing I think, but twitter would keep Miku as their unofficial mascot. This plus Project Sekai would metastize into the current politcally charged triple-baka-oldtroon-RPing Miku/Teto zoomie "fans" of today. In fact, if you see any normalfags refer to Miku or any other Vocaloid by their full name and their last name first, now you know who to thank.

Honestly i found this thread because of the homestuck animation announcement.
But oh wow, I agree with the comment above me saying this is probably one of the best threads on the farms.
I'm not yet finished reading it, but so far I'm feeling a lot of nostalgia, but also dread and pity reading everything so far.

I was in some of these communities, and enjoyed some of the things mentioned here, hell, my first profile pictures here on the farms were the Panda girl mascot from Ken Ashcorp because til this day I still enjoy his music as some form of guilty pleasure.
I was among these fans of some of the popular things in the early to mid 2010s and just like that I myself was at some point in favor of the toxic progressive views people had at the time (except for that time with the Zamii incident, I think that was my first wake up call from all of this).
Now I feel that I was manipulated by the media I consumed at the time, I feel somewhat betrayed by the things I used to enjoy and the communities I was part of, specially at a vulnerable moment in my life.
I still enjoy some of these things, but I have grown up a little bit from them, I now consider myself to be more critical about those things and recognize the agendas I was subjected to.

Patent Zero was actually Princess Sylvyspirit. I remember reading/hearing stories about how the SiIva backroom (back when it was a boys club) lusted over him due to him pretty much being "the one girl" of the group, alongside an inside joke of backroom members wanting to be "the mom" of the group. Part of it was him catfishing, which eventually spiraled into him trooning out and stuff like that.

The feeling of betrayal is what gets at me the most. I'm the kind of person who is able to judge a certain work by its own merits and when I found community in people who enjoyed some of the shit discussed in this thread, shit that your average teen growing up wouldn't really give the time of day, I was pretty elated. I still had pretty good times but I look back at certain shit now being older and the general vibe of these communities and I just go "what was I thinking man". Also the drama they get up to on a damn near routine bases over the most retarded shit possible. Like I don't want to be this faggy in my 30s and 40s. I'm here for the creativity and what people can come up with whether its interesting or not.

Its really a shame how with a lot of series or general media the best way to enjoy it is just by yourself or with a couple of close friends while staying the hell away from fellow fans online.
I will say though that this, at least for some things, was not always the case.
Just from my experience, the Pokemon community was okay and didn't go to shit until the mid to late 2010s, like with everything else on the internet.
But ultimately its far better to outgrow these communities than staying in the rot they produce.

I'll concede that Gen 5 also had bad shitflinging when it came out that made it impossible to discuss the games until it started to calm down again with Gen 6.

A good point to talk about is the time of breakout off the fandom, the straw that broke the camels back, in my case i was very much into the animation fandom of the mid 2010s with series like Steven Universe, Gravity Falls , Star VS, Voltron legendary defender, etc.
To keep it as short as possible it was the combination of the incredibly toxic fandom doing shit like industrial espionage,the harrastment of children, the inclusion of messages that could be dangerous to kids , the realization that most of these people where like grown ups acting like total psychos and obssesing over media that was intended for 12 years, something just broke inside that to this day has never allowed me to identify or engage with any fandom whatsoever .

Just the Pokémon fanbase in general has to be studied. From the Genwunners, to Nuzlockers, to shippers, to Poképhilia (from long before the leaks), to SOVA (Save Our Voice Actors), to the fucking scalpers (especially in TCG), et cetera, all before Dexit happened. If it wasn't for the Sonic fanbase setting the standard, Pokémon fans would be the de facto example of an autistic broken base shattered to atomic levels and how there's literal sects within the franchise. You'll find the manga fans have their own special batshit moments outside of the anime-base, and Mystery Dungeon fans have stuff unique to them that not even the mainline game fans have, so on and so forth.

Hime is the prefix given to yuri fans, named after the Yuri Hime magazine, so you get himejoshi and himedanshi (princess girl, princess boy). You've surely heard of yaoi's fujoshi, that stands for rotten girl, and fudanshi, rotten boy. Going a bit off topic, you'd think I have an irrational hate boner for GL itself, but no, it's just the fans I despise. Like for a example between similar series, compare the remaining fanbases of Gurren Lagann and Kill La Kill, it's night and day.
These niggas are nasty, man. When I called MtH that way I meant that his archtype that I described earlier would become *so* common in that sphere, bonus points if they orbit Triple-Q like he did too. Many friendless, low-functioning, male amerimutt spergs would watch Love Live because of SiIvagunner, think "girls, girls cute together, girls happy together unlike me... i am girl now" and become these rhythm gacha trannoids everyone else is on edge around. And again, this is not the fault of LL! itself, it's a good series, and the "tranime" meme has been long since debunked because this something that only happens to angloids with cushy lives while the rest of the world just thinks fiction is cool.

So basically, it's not the anime, it's the enviroment. Raise autistic zoomzooms with a diet of undertale, steven universe, discord, and later twitter and see how they turn out. 1.
