I am ready to see "buttery soft" fabrics fade into oblivion
I recently began to crochet again, after many decades of "having a life".
I am appalled, but not surprised, to see how cheap the acrylic yarn is and how badly it feels when working it for hours.
While I can't yet afford the fine wool and alpaca yarns I would prefer, thankfully cotton yarn is still pretty reasonable!

(Btw, love your name. You were robbed. You should have been Pope!)

Co-worker's kid was in the office today (she was just minding her business, doing her homework in the corner until they could go home). But she was wearing something similar to this crop top. Hers had a couple of ties at the back and a decorative chain. Also it was paired with a tennis skirt rather than jeans.
She's seven.

(btw, if there's a thread more about the adultification of little girls' clothes, point me to it plz 🙏)

But yeah, shit's really weird. I think it's the oneness effect of the internet where 45 year old tranny men and 6 year old girls are influenced in nearly exactly the same way. It's a great outfit, looks clean and attractive but it's pretty horrifying that little girls are allowed to wear it. Progressive parents are so deluded by the idea that "well men shouldn't be looking!!" that they're completely fine with dressing children in skimpy club attire.

Deluded is right. How can these parents think sexualizing their own children is cute and harmless? It's a parent's duty to protect his or her children from predators, not coat them in honey and stick them in the bear enclosure. If your instinct is to preemptively offload blame, rather than taking reasonable safety measures, you aren't parent material.

This shit. I don't get how we as a society let this fly but then on the other hand these same people argue about pedophilia and how we should be protecting our children. Why are you dressing your children as adults regardless? Saw a woman and her kids at the Walmart the other day. One wore these low rise bell bottoms and a puffy crop top with her stomach showing. It was disgusting and she said

"Dont worry you look fabulous" she could not have been older than like, 12 years old. Holy SHIT. And then if you say anything about it, YOURE an asshole.

I think this feeds into the overall trend and norm of societies not judging mothers because "they are hard working". Dont dress your kid like a street worker.

I don't know how to explain it because I don't have that feeling when I see someone wearing a set of underwear, swimsuit or a sport top while doing sport or doing physical work (maybe it has to do with the setting), but uncovered abdomen while the rest is normally clothed makes one look physically vulnerable and weak. Quite like prey. I can't be the only one who sees it that way, and I am absolutely not a predator.
Yeah and I feel cold just from looking at that outfit.

I quit on that video when whatever the fuck it is presenting it started flogging "scented water".

Honest to god grow the hell up and drink some plain water. Stop being such a child.i guess I can add that to trends I despise.
Looks like someone didn't have Sponsorblock.

When I was in school in the 2000s, this was a white trash thing. Is it still just trashy retards or has it broken containment

It happened at Walmart. Take a wild guess

I am ready to see "buttery soft" fabrics fade into oblivion. I want natural fiber and this description tries to stealth "mystery plastic crap".
That shit gives me so many sensory issues. Ironically, I actually really enjoy slightly rough/scratchy linen and wool. At least they don't get sweaty and smell bad like synthetics.

It really does come back to hating men, hating any morals that come from religion, and that weird, "if you see anything wrong then you're the pervert," mindset.
The amount of little girls I've seen walking around, midriff exposed, wearing those workout shorts that are basically just Spanks with the whole material sucked straight up into their crack and vagina, just like all of the Instagram influencers, is way beyond concerning.

Consumerism in general.

Almost all of the girl toys in my local supermarket aisle are related to just straight up consumerism, it's always some blind box that you need to collect all of, and then get extra accessories to dress it up with. At least with things like barbies there are actual sets for them to role play with. In the boys section there are a lot more sets or things to actually play with.
Don't even get me started on labubus and Stanley cups or bog bags or whatever the new thing of the month is.

Glad to see other women noticing the sheer pornification of girls' clothing. I wonder what's driving this particular trend of the past few years; I was in my mid teens in the mid 2010s and I certainly didn't dress anything close to that and neither did any of the girls I knew or was friends with. There was a lot more diversity in clothing as well; pants, shorts, hoodies, jackets, graphic tees, occassional skirts, just normal teenage girl attire. Every teenage girl I see now is dressed in those horrible, skin tight black polyester "pants" that leave nothing to the imagination. I've also noticed the crop tops, exposed misdriffs and even wearing bras as shirts. There's a real lack of femininity in modern female attire as well. You'd never see a girl wearing any kind of dress nowadays even in appropriate weather for it. It's a real shame that fashion diversity is so poor now, as not even ten years ago I went to school with girly girls, emo and goth girls, tomboyishly dressed girls, etc. Don't even get me started on the pornification of gym clothes driven by women advertising their OFs on Instagram.

I have not posted here in a hot minute but also agreeing with this. I have four kids, three of them girls and damn, it is sometimes hard to find clothes for them that don’t look like something a hooker would wear. And yeah, I also noticed the lack of variety in the dress styles. It’s like, they all look the same. Crop top, tiny shorts, same makeup style.

Man, I sound like a boomer. Get off my damn lawn! (Waves rake threateningly)

It’s also just not very conductive to real life to have super lax dress codes, but I guess schools are too afraid of being called “sexist” for implementing them. Men in my middle school got disciplined for wearing pants too saggy by being made to wear rainbow suspenders to hold them up. Most jobs require a dress code of some sort anyway, and allowing it to be too lax makes that transition to adulthood so much harder. Also, as a general safety, midriff exposure just isn’t a good idea if you’re in a science class and working directly with certain things bad for the skin.

Hello Kitty/Sanrio is back in a BIG way, and like... despite being a millennial with fond memories of it from my childhood, I just don't see the appeal of putting kawaii shit on T-shirts for grown women. Honestly the "nostalgia-core" trap in general - go to any big chain store that sells cheap and nasty clothes, you're gonna see Hello Kitty, Pikachu and Disney Princess on shirts in the grown-up clothes section and honestly? I'll admit I fell for it at one point when I didn't give a damn about fashion. But now, it's basically keeping lazy girls in the "dress like you never mentally aged past 12" trap and keeping the consoomers consooming, and I'm not a fan.
