This prompted a great deal of spotlight onto Vice media's story submission practices, as Ana's head editor (Dwayne) was so bold as to issue a public letter stating that he and Vice stood against bigotry ( )and were 100% behind Ana and her reporting on this V-tuber, which Head Ed Dwayne asserted as being factual and truthful. (SPOILER ALERT: It wasn't)
Not even a day or two later, all of Ana's articles on the V-tuber were scrubbed from Vice, alongside the very poorly-timed letter of support from their head editor. It wasn't censorship when this happened, because Ana's writing's were patently wrong, immoral and posed a legitimate legal risk to Vice. Ana's leaving isn't about censorship, as anyone else would've been shitcanned for such writings long before.

Would be very interesting. I actually don't have a good read on how much support payment processors would have if there started to be some legislative pressure applied in a US context. I know they're starting to step on toes with merchant fees recently. It seems like almost all businesses that have to deal with them would be fine disempowering them, and their main source of support is they give some effectively extralegal power to the state at a time when the global financial network is America's last comparative advantage. Ana's departure wasnt solely over pissing off payment processors. His previous activities and writings were so toxic to Vice's bottomline that Vice's lawyers told them they needed to remove Ana's 'journalism'/material and they did. It has happened multiple times now. Know what someone should be called who can't do their job without getting sued? Fired.
