I find it so weird. Normally when you create such a story driven game, you should write the whole story first and plan everything.
Atleast I think that is the way. Movies do that too or am I wrong?

There are writers who genuinely produce good work by just 'rolling with it', they'll get typing and they won't stop, something things won't even go exactly where they expected and they sort of just let it spill out. Still usually needs an editor pass and the author can be stuck in a bit of a repetition loop if they're not paying attention to themes and events, but its a viable writing strategy for a select few.

However, its almost universally paired with prolific output. These kinds of writers can't put their work down until they've gotten it all out. If Mald was this kind of writer, the game would have 10x the dialog, and he'd have a fucking burning urge to deal with the code side just to get the writing into a 'finished' state and out of his head. I've only seen bits here and there, but Malds writing strikes me more as someone who is always thinking how to win the last argument they had in their head, and writing as if that was what's going on.

He did say that, but there actually might be some truth to the claim that he was responsible for it. It seems that Twitch added the category because of 2 UserVoice suggestions (a), one of which was his (a) and it seems to have gotten plenty of votes as well. Maldy likes to overexaggerate his role in everything but this could've just been a solid suggestion at the time that picked up real popular support, as he was still a small streamer back then.

Currently he only has that name on his site url and mail. I don't remember that being discussed here and maybe it isn't important but it supports the theory that he deliberately chose his name to trick the algorithm.
