It's interesting because the Constitution technically only covers birthright citizenship to those "under US jurisdiction" or something like that. Meaning they have to be here under US authority in the first place for it to actually work. You can't just have some random pregnant woman sneak through the border and have a baby and claim it's a US citizen by birthright, it doesn't work like that. You would have to be a refugee or something like that. It gets interesting because the Democrats have this thing called sanctuary cities that blur the line between what immigrants are here under US jurisdiction or not. I feel like ultimately this is where the discussion will go and we all know that Trump usually thinks sanctuary cities are illegitimate so we'll see what happens.
