I've mentioned this before but this is the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA). There are big penalties for not adhering to EMTALA so everyone has to take brownoid bullshit seriously while they clog up the ED to see if ailment X qualifies as an emergency. Medical staff, most of whom don’t want to accidentally kill people or wind up in a lawsuit, provide all the required examinations, screenings, and care. Therefore, I propose an additional regulation: mandatory ICE treatments to remove parasites.
