IN EVERY SINGLE FUCKING EPISODE OF STEVEN UNIVERSE. Often multiple times in the SAME EPISODE! What's this idiot's point? Hell, I'll bet most of those fucking things were off-model in episodes. This is not a great line of defense, Bob and Retwat. And ok, so maybe it's not exclusive to "CalArts" (the infection spread pretty quickly you see) though it may have been originally noticed in the character designs of people who were CalArts grads, so "beanmouth syndrome" is probably a better descriptor given that the creator of
Steven Universe and her gang didn't attend CalArts.
They're not off-model. It's sameface. Anime suffers from a similar problem, but anime at least has boobies compelling stories.
The statement being made is that the sheet itself is off-model from the actual characters. Not that it means much because you can screengrab every single one of these characters and they'll have a face just like that.
Add to that the fact that a character being off-model was rampant in
Steven Universe, so it's a null point from Bob and Retwat. There's whole subreddits devoted to how much Rebecca Sugar and her cronies fucked up by not using model sheets or proper storyboards.
