Depends on what the idea was. For ensuring Jade is set up/medical bills paid? Absolutely, it's the best move for him. For artistic integrity? Not really.

I found Jim through HWNDU and his content - streams, edited videos, shitposts on twitter, guest appearances - were easily some of the best entertainment I had for a good three years. They were also the final years of the wild west internet and most of the time when Jim put something out it usually felt novel (even when it was over old drama like TGWTG he managed to edit the hodgepodge of ED, KF, Twitter and 4chan posts into something that felt authoritative).

That's not really the case anymore. One of Jim's biggest appeals that set him apart from, say, Internet Historian or Fredrik Knudsen was being willing to be edgy and make judgements while still retaining some objectivity, and everything ramping up censorship post-Covid has just made that really difficult; compare Jim's 2022 Youtube streams to the Odysee ones. There's also a cottage industry of people now doing what he did, but worse - the commentary community was (literally) in its adolescence in the late 2010s, but now there's a million Turkey Toms all churning out the same slop. I can't really think of something more illustrative of this than when Jim went from recommending KiwiTapes and SmokeyMCC and then started covering the same lolcows they were at the start of the year - sure, his commentary was still entertaining, but it wasn't anywhere near as novel. Recap streams are fine once in a while, but not as a constant for a guy who used to set the standard for content in his spheres.

I still like Jim and some of his post-farewell streams have been great - the Hbomber and Rekieta streams could have come straight out of 2019 - but it is a bit sad to see his current state.
