I’m curious what cause of action Leslie could use. It’s fun to think about suing these guys but it’s a private organization, they’re generally free to revoke invitations at will. This isn’t like she was excluded from a government office.
I know you can sue for just about any reason but that’s a fast way to wind up with a thread here. She can probably be much more cost effective by talking about this on social media rather than trying to get a lawyer involved. Just so long as she doesn’t get herself sued by Worldcon.

If she's really serious about it she's going to need actual evidence up front because it probably currently wouldn't survive a 12(b)(6) under Twombly/Iqbal because you'd be talking some kind of civil conspiracy and you would need to prove specific communications related to the tortious acts alleged.
I.e. you wouldn't get to go to discovery to dig up the communications you were alleging, you'd have to find them yourself without the assistance of subpoenas and the like.
This would probably have to involve hiring an investigator and possibly disgruntled SFWA members who might provide any such communications. Or she could just straight up advertise a bounty for such information at less expense, but obviously shouldn't do this without legal advice on how this might impact the credibility/admissibility of any evidence discovered by these means.
If she could get past that Iqbal hurdle into some kind of discovery, it's very likely that could be very far-reaching. It wouldn't have to be limited to strictly admissible material but anything that could reasonably lead to something admissible and relevant. So, for instance, if this is Fat Rick's doing, that might include exactly why they squandered member funds on his sanctionably frivolous lawsuit. Their long history of pedophile coverups would also probably be fair game, especially if the ban was on behalf of Rick, one of their most ardent pedophile defenders who was improperly paid to file frivolous lawsuits against his critics on behalf of pedophiles.
So it could be quite difficult because she'd have to front load a lot of information we don't have, i.e. why did they ban her? If it was literally no reason, she probably couldn't do anything. She'd have to show some intention to harm her business by Rick or the SFWA itself.
There also may be other avenues, things like common law or statutory business torts under state law, but since we don't really have a solid factual history of what actually happened and why, it would be kind of a waste to speculate.
And even the scenario I put forward is speculation and you couldn't take it to court without facts. Under Iqbal you can't survive a motion to dismiss alleging some kind of conspiracy just on the basis of "well it looks like one."

I’ve often wondered this. It’s like there is some mysterious force that compels them to gravitate together and latch on to each other in cyberspace. Maybe it’s a psychological phenomenon, whereby these crazies subconsciously recognize that Pat also has similar mental illnesses so they team up and act crazy together. Or maybe it’s just simply that God is a PatPoster.

As much as I dislike that guy and his stupid fucking face I say it's rude to even pretend he'd have anything to do with SFWA activities.
Their arguments would destroy every rib in a 5km radius. How pissy would the ex-MS special forces cyber security expert get when he's called a child by a lispy FFWBT?
