The thing is, I won't judge anyone for going for the cheapest price, especially with how dubious and vague the legal status even is to begin with. I don't think you can outright blame the average person for going "wow Google said the prices here are cheaper" and pursuing that, because, again, it's the cost effective option. But that's the thing. The average person isn't making some stance on immigration or illegal aliens or grandstanding about any of it. They just want their car fixed. The implications are there, sure, but blaming this type of person for being a part of WHY things are so shit is stupid. In reality, it's people who are completely aware of the legal status of the labor they are requesting and engaging with it anyway that are problem. The first step is bringing local awareness to the issue, the second step is putting the money where the mouth is. Everyone I know irl has no fucking idea about some raids that are happening in-state.
