The little kid telling the cop that her dad told her not to answer the door, and not crying or appearing scared of the police makes me think she was kind of telling on Nick, like she was glad an authority figure showed up. Even though Nick would have done his best to make his kids distrust the police, I'm sure they would have got a different message from the normal members of the family and community.

This is a special case, though.. I hung out with a lot of dumb people as a teenager, and did a lot of dumb things, and even among people whose illustrious futures involved things like prison for burglary, it was well fucking understood that nitrous was the lowest of the low. It was the drug equivalent of picking cigarette stubs out of public ashtrays. Huge shame stigma

True, and maybe she was also trying to explain why she was disobedient to the police officer's orders, since she's trained to obey orders from multiple adults, such as homeschool teachers, extracurricular instructors, Sunday school teachers, April, Aaron, and, once-upon-a-time, the nanny. They acted with concern for the children, even put up with a barking dog without shooting it, in general, they just acted professionally while dealing with total assholes. Why the fuck is the county obsessed with concealing shit that actually apparently would make them look good and dispel all of the lies of this coke-addled faggot Nick Rekieta?

Seriously, they made sure everyone, including the perps, left with shoes on at least, and made sure the kids, before getting placed with the grandparents, all had their electronics, and appropriate clothes, I mean why hide this? It doesn't make the cops look bad at all.

The police are absolute Chads. It seems the issue is literally everyone above them; i.e. elected officials, bureaucrats, that shit. As for why they care? Corruption, vanity, a sense of shame that something like this happened in their town... the reasons could be many. It could be something we have no idea about frankly because we don't live there. They might also just not like "internet people", and think we'll fuck off with enough red tape. It's a small town with good old boy rules.
