A g.a.l. isn't a representative. They're often lawyers but don't need to be. They are a guardian appointed by a court when both parents are incompetent to protect the children's interests. They're different from appointed counsel, and appointed counsel isn't likely to side with the abusive or neglectful parents.

So I doubt Nick, lying or not, was referring to the appointed lawyer.

I wonder if there is evidence (even just "testimony"?) that a child ingested alcohol, and Nick's trying to get in front the narrative by saying it was the nanny who "did it" because she was the child-minder during that time period.
