P.S.
I noticed other crew members (ahem, Brandon, ahem, Sam Haft) also talk almost EXCLUSIVELY to younger girls (like, barely 21 if not younger and they’re what? 40?) at the party and then get all moody when a dude arrived. Draw from that what you will.
Isn't Brandon Rogers like not just gay but super gay? I know that doesn't mean much these days, but the guy is a known gigantic homo.

I can only say what I saw. I will say that I walked up to Sam immediately after he got done talking with this one girl who idk was even old enough to drink. Again, I just smiled and was like “Hey dude, what’s up?” And he IMMEDIATELY shrank… (ie, shoulders slumped, didn’t make eye contact with me, etc. the kind of behavior guilty toddlers do when you ask them who drew on the wall) and mumbled something like “Good, yeah…” before slinking away to a group of cosplayers. I get I was a stranger, but it was insanely awkward to get a convo with any of the ‘guys’ involved except Alex. But Sam, Adam Neylan and Brandon’s behavior dropped with the younger girls…again, I can only wonder why…
Interesting, were you aware of the 15 year old Brandon Hired?

Yeah, I’m not alleging anything, there could have been a variety of factors. I do have big arms and a deep voice, so it’s possible he thought I was like, hitting on him? Even tho I just asked what’s up?

I was, yeah… I don’t know enough info to say what my gut tells me to, so I won’t.

Well an update has happened. Turns out he hired her to edit a video (even though he could get anyone else to do it.) but the way it was presented and the details were all over the place made it seem like she was trying to intentionally leave out information.

I don't think she was groomed, she didn't really claim that, she just was mad that Rogers didn't pay her and kept ducking her. It would've been better if she'd just came out with uncensored screenshots and full DM conversations which would've allievated most of the handwaving.

She shot herself in the foot when her whole interaction with Rogers was known. Regardless if you're terrified of the creator and his fanbase people would figure it out even if you hidden it. This is all in all botched and I feel str should've at least came out with uncensored DM proof but 15 year olds aren't really smart and it feels like she wanted to protect Rogers despite the fact she claims she was scared of him.

I've seen other victims uncensored screenshots of creators who groomed them despite they were scared of their fanbase. It doesn't help she'd had cropped screenshots, the presentation all sloppy and it was hard to see WHAT art she did (when it's a video.) it's no wonder why the fandom drove her off.

I will do some research. I can’t really make assumptions, I can only say what I saw, which wasn’t inappropriate by any means, just weird to me how invested they all were in the younger girls.

I am gonna fix the OP sometimes after May 5th. May the Fifth and Aids be with you.

While I understand the argument, one of Viv's many problems as a creator is she's really bad with establishing canon within her shows, and instead of admitting she made a mistake, will scramble to fill in/deflect plot holes and criticism outside of the show. At least with something like Harry Potter, you can understand the base story and everything going on without needing all the random details Rowling added after the fact on her website. I've only ever seen Hazbin, but just from the start, whether the events from the YouTube pilot happened in comparison to the rest of the series is wildly up in the air without outside clarification. And even then, the official answer isn't particularly helpful.

If I'm being overly generous, Viv is someone who can write the middle of events, but has absolutely no idea how to really setup a beginning or end. She has a very fanfic approach to writing, where you take something that already has a lot of pre-established lore and is only going to be read by people familiar with said lore, then throws together a quick story getting out whatever main idea they were fixated on, then quickly moves on to the next thing without exploring the consequences of whatever happened. Which...honestly isn't the worst thing in the world. It used to be a fairly common thing with shows, with the intent being anyone could just tune in and understand what was going on without being lost if they missed previous episodes. I think it's why a lot of people criticize Helluva for moving away from the "hell assassin" style of storytelling, which is a good setup for jumping around in stories from week to week.

Oh, like how they say with troons every accusation is a confession, the rapists assumed you were there to rape them? It's possible. All the men involved in this show except Keith David have terminal cases of internet disease.

Also the reason for theme songs that gave 110% in under 60 seconds. We can only dream of maximizing profit the way they did in broadcast times.

Ostatnio edytowane:
The thing is Donna, a lot of the things from the pilot days are still canon but are not shown in the actual show itself. Like the fact that the only thing that can permanently kill Sinners are angelic weapons. That's not some random fun fact; that's a major part to the story. The whole reason why Charlie is trying to make a hotel to redeem Sinners in the first place. You can't just not address something that important to the lore.

If she did something like tweening (smear frames between "real" frames drawn by a senior artist), she probably wouldn't have much to show. Just a speculation.

I've heard some people say that Kesha helped with the design of Beezlebub. I'm not sure how true that is; maybe Viv made mention of it in some interview or a reply to someone's Twitter post. I just wanted to mention it in case anyone else has heard about this.

Doesn't Viv have people to help her with the written portion of these episodes? Or they just yes men and let Viv do whatever she wants?

Honestly, the Helluva Boss concept of new mission every episode had a better premise. I'm not happy they barely throw that in unless it's within a short.

I don't know if it's specifically a case of yes men or more a case of writing among friends. I imagine it as a group of highschoolers who decide they're going to write a story together. Both in terms of the quality of the show and the writing process. It works for them because it isn't designed for a general audience. They all know the characters and the world, or at least the elements that are important to them, because they've talked about it. But the general audience has no idea about a lot of those details. Or if the audience is interested in something they didn't think to cover, they have to scramble to explain it.

That last bit is particularly troublesome for the team because I think Viv and co. are more interested in the sad gay boys, while a lot of people are more interested in either the world building or character motivation. There's a reason the shows are described as things like "hitmen from hell take out sinners" or "The devil's daughter tries to rehabilitate souls in hell."

The emphasis tends to be on the hellish aspects. Hell is a very unique setting for a show. Off the bat, it implies a strong supernatural setting with lots of dark elements and really fleshed out characters. You don't get thrown into hell for being a nobody. Backstory is also a key detail for a hell setting. Especially if the whole entire point is to redeem the characters. You need to know *why* they need redemption. But as far as I know, almost all the backstory of the characters in Hazbin comes from Viv and co. sharing details. And then sometimes changing those details when there's fan backlash.

Even the relationship side of things, which you think Viv and co. would excel at, is really, really weak. Viv's female characters are awful. Not to say her male characters are examples of great writing, but they at least tend to do things and sometimes have agency. But because Viv wants them to be in a constant state of gay angst, there's not really anything you can do with them. Honestly, the best way to describe it is if someone took a softcore porn and told you to make a drama series out of it. Actually, not just a drama series, but an epic drama series with multiple worlds and incredibly high stakes.

Viv is very much a coffeshop style of writer. More specifically, a teen coffeshop style of writer. I think if Viv initially leaned into that/marketed her shows as such, they'd do a lot better. I mean, that's basically the audience she has right now to begin with. But I think a lot of people tuned in for what was being advertised, a hellish hitmen agency or soul rehabiliation. I'd say it's the marketing teams fault if anything, but it feels like Viv herself was always pushing that narrative, and still makes vague attempts at having these bigger premises but they just always fall short because nobody on the writing team really seems to care about telling those stories.

Sorry Viv, you're the one who presented the show as having internal morals and episodes intended to teach lessons. Shouldn't have done that if you wanted people to think it was a job-of-the-week sitcom.

Imagine being such a reddit atheist, that you make a show about Heaven and Hell yet still refuse to put God in it.
Out of all the criticism directed at Viv this is the one that I agree with most. If Viv is going to make 2 shows that say divine beings suck she should at least have the common courtesy to use fucking God.
