They should hire Null to look into their code and ensure the site wouldn't eat shit and die. Null would ensure not even a ddos campaign could collapse the site and his conditions would include them stop directly endorsing pro-palestine, BLM and tranny shit (including the suicide pride flag in their X username). Really it's a win-win situation.

I wonder if this is in relation to their roadmap. In ye ole leak of the FA source code, it became clear that they had a major fuck-up in how the database is structured. Essentially, they made the username the entry integer instead of a randomly generated string of characters, which is why true name changes were out of the question. I kinda theorized that FA is so reliant on ad revenue and selling user data (because boy, do they use a LOT of reseller APIs lol) that taking the site down a couple days to do it proper would actually eat into their revenue too much to make the attempt.
The roadmap says they planned for actual name changes beyond just display names though, so could that be the real reason? Have they finally gone dun it and bricked the database and no one is left with enough knowledge about FAs code to fix it?

They've fucked up bigly, haven't they. If it takes hours to write up a reason why your site is still down (not even a post-mortem) then you're in the deepest, dankest shit you can possibly imagine and should probably hand over to someone actually competent.

It baffles me this burning trash heap of a site still has by far the biggest traffic of all furry websites.
One would think something more functional and better organized like e621 would had taken its place already

It has the inertia of being the first and the oldest. Everyone is there because everyone else is there, while none of the competitors really offer anything novel and useful enough to draw away the crowds. It's why deviant art still holds its position as the place for more normie artists, even despite arguably better alternatives existing.
It'll die off eventually, probably.

E621 has no social media features, you can't sell porn on e621, only view it. Every other FA clone only exists to be the repository for the rejects who get kicked off FA for doing fucked shit.

Yes and no, e621 may be more functional but also limits what people can post and the mods are far more insufferable than furaffinity. e621 is an archive for furry trash, so it means that you need to follow specific quality standards and can't just promote yourself as an artist and upload stuff like a commission sheet.
