I don't know about you guys, but the thing that's so frustrating about this is how easy all these failures could be avoided if they just tried to put on a Show and not just your run-of-the-mill charity event. Any YouTuber with 100k+ subscribers could probably put on a charity boxing event in their backyard, filmed on a ten-year-old GoPro, and make it more entertaining and, per capita, more successful than Creator Clash. The thing about running something like this is that it's not about the boxing, it's about the show. People want to see emotions riled up and let go in the ring, people want to see stories build up and reach their climax, people WANT bread and circuses. People don't pay money to watch a boxing event because they love the physical act, they enjoy the show. It's really not that hard because boxing is all about the bravado and the emotions; you are literally participating in one of the most dangerous sports and might get hurt or embarrassed.
Ian and Anisa seem to have an allergy to any kind of showmanship. There is no drama, emotions, or show, and whenever I see the promotions, I don't see the fighters as being out for blood, just some streamers looking forward to something fun to do on an afternoon with their friends. The charity aspect of it, of all things, should be an afterthought to the showmanship of the event. People don't give a fuck about charities they don't personally care about, but Ian and Anisa insist on banking on the idea that it being a charity event will drive it's success. Even in Idubbbz's latest video, which currently sits at 6.7 million views, there's no promotion for the event or bravado that Ian could have pulled off to put eyes on Creator Clash. He could have said something as simple as, "If I see you, I'm going to fry your liver and eat it," or something antagonizing, something EMOTIONAL. But he's too much of a brain-dead zombie to actually do that. They should be putting their money into making the event a spectacle for people to watch and get hyped over, which they absolutely refuse to do. It's so frustrating because they most certainly have the network, resources, and brand recognition to pull off something truly special, but instead, it's just a random boxing event in a market that's saturated with them.
It really fucks over themselves and the purpose of the event by having the marketing be so cringy and gay. They have managed to turn a sport like boxing into a fucking snooze fest that I don't even feel like pirating it in the first place. That's all before we get into the fighters themselves, who are either washed-up has-beens or people tangentially related to big-name YouTubers. I don't give a fuck about Snap Plap or Blubbo, even someone as terminally online as me can't recognize or remember half the people on the card. I would be interested in someone like Dream or even fucking Turkey Tom getting into the ring because those are YouTubers that people recognize who have a background that's interesting to me and probably others as well. Would it be a good fight? Probably not because they both have a BMI of like 1, but it would be a good SHOW
It's really not that hard, Ian and Anisa, give us some fucking blood.
