From what I've been told in this thread prior, the romanization can be either "wong" or "wang", but it's pronounced "wong" in any case. Also if I am seeing this right, his wife took his last name, but his son didn't. That's kind of fucked.

The "a" in Wang is pronounced kind of like a short aaaah like you make at the doctor, not like how you say the a in fang, so its kind of halfway between an english a and o, imagine adding a "ng" to the end of saying one. The dominant romanization system of Chinese changed from Wade-Giles to Pinyin which changed it from wong to wang, like how you see taoism and daoism, mao zedong and mao tse-tung and stuff like that.
