While I'm happy that "The USA" (really just one guy from the USA) won, I'm not happy that the trial has ruined speedrunning for me. It's been getting boringer for years, but this was the final straw. One of speedrunning's best and brightest loses to one of high-scoring's worst. That really shows me that in spite of what I've learned from speedrunning (patience, experimentation, ingenuity, improvised quick recoveries), it really is nothing to be looked up to. Just a time-wasting-to-the-extreme hobby popular among loser millennials who want to convince themselves that the N64 and GameCube are really popular and the actual winners of their time.

His grand contribution to the world of gaming is a total of nine speedruns. They're all on Barnstorming, an ancient arcade game that you can complete in under one minute. His best place on the leaderboard is second, which sounds impressive until you realise only two people played it.

The VODs of his runs are hosted on his own personal YouTube channel. The channel is mostly dedicated to (surprise surprise) stalking Billy Mitchell. He also posts videos of his interviews with other Billy haters.

I just can't relate. Walter Cuddleford is a despicable person who has decided to dedicate his life to libeling this one old boomer for the crime of playing Donkey Kong on an emulator. And he can't even do that right because he's so geeked up on meth and fent that his blogposts are 30,000+ word incoherent rambles about nothing. This dude is going to be on his deathbed soon and the only memories that will flash before his eyes will be him hunched over at a computer screen, eyes bloodshot from having not slept in a week, writing about how much he hates a man whom he's never met.

Fair. I still hold the view that he's a delusional asshole but it feels dampened by the fact that he's a very ineffective delusional asshole.
I'd still preferably see these elements sequestered from society but for Walter it's the difference between me wanting him to go to prison vs believing he should be in a mental institution.

And then he claims he also personally didn't understand the actual topic of the trail because there were so many lawsuits from Billy.
