Obviously there's something fundamentally corporately wrong, because losing Gura and Fauna and Mumei is a huge deal that management would want to downplay.

Rather than seeing this as something being "wrong", we're seeing a standard change of direction that happens when a company goes from being a literal who startup to a major organization. The first evidence of this was when Aqua left. She's been around even longer than Gura was and she was one of Japan's favorite Holos - Certainly in the top 10. Some vtubers are generally fine with the changes, like Pekora, Fubuki, Suisei, and Miko to name a few. Others like Shion and Chloe obviously are not okay with them. Ultimately every organization changes a lot as it matures and a lot of people are not going to be okay with that. This happens to a lot of companies everywhere. There are instances where half an office can quit because they didn't like that their company changed ERP systems.

I don't know that I'd argue that playing favorites and just letting the big talent do anything they want (while presumably not letting the other talents do that) is what I would call a "properly run company" and I think many would consider that Actual black company behavior.

Coffee's for closers. But to put it another way: Cover just killed the goose that layed the golden eggs, because they pushed her too hard. Which is not smart, nor properly run.

I'm not gonna pretend how the internals of Hololive function. Everyone thinks they can run the companies better than Yagoo, Fishman, etc. That's not to defend them at all, but we see the tip of the iceberg no matter what talents say, how well we think we know the company, a few poor decisions, etc. on how these things function as businesses.

Trying to split hairs dissecting the PR speak in these graduations isn't going to reveal any answers. They're all under NDAs and Hololive isn't a small place where there are defiant crashouts with talents airing dirty laundry. The ramifications are too high.

The contracts were open to be re-signed and couldn't be renegotiated for these girls that chose to leave. I'm sure they all have their own lawyers to deal with it. It could be money, demands, etc. but it's just not going to be known by the audience.

Western vtubing is a different in a lot of ways when these girls entered and rose to success. It's been enough time in the role to lose the enthusiasm, got a very comfortable amount of money, and most of them are in their mid-late 20s now wanting to move onto something else. Once one person chooses to pull the cord, it can also make it easier for others to follow suit.

The thing that makes it difficult to get a read on is that basically all of the graduations came from talents who were not streaming frequently and went on very long hiatuses (Ame, Mumei, Gura, Aqua, and Shion) and then there were health issues like with Chloe (and from a couple mentioned before). Fauna is the one exception. All the obvious ones who rarely streamed are gone. The health issues could be a thing for someone like Iroha for example. But we really don't know for anybody who didn't already feel like they may graduate.

I've done it myself. However, I think that a change that costs you the top three talents in a branch (or three of the top four, since Mori has her big separate niche) is a horrible mistake.
How hard is it to let Gura and Mumei be the world's most popular vsingers in the English-speaking world, and let Fauna be the most popular cartoon streamer? Zero effort, unless you're insistent on forcing them to be something else.

It's probably not a coincidence. It probably got to the point where the leadership made a few very significant changes and everyone who didn't agree with them started wanting to leave simultaneously. Cover has to avoid everyone graduating at once, so they likely arrived at a deal where they would stagger graduations to keep them separate enough. As much as I'd hate to say this, what we're seeing is a graduation queue. We are going to see more EN and JP graduations in the coming months unfortunately.

Holo went public and there's been a bigger push to be more idol like so more albums, more concerts, and etc. The girls that just want to be streamers seem to be bailing. At this point Yagoo and management need to get a grip on this or Holo is gonna implode. Their stock is in freefall atm since Gura announced her graduation.

On the other side, you do not make the big money from streaming. You have to push concerts and like. To push sponsorships and other products that will bring in the money. That really is dirty secret of any entertainment.

How many publicly traded companies there are making this content? Don't think too many.

That's what I always saw it as. Do bigger projects, show up in stadiums, convince more big corporations to give you money, and keep pumping it up.

Really? Kiara along with Calli seemed the most ride or die for Holo EN.


Anyway, on stream Calli just said it's hard for her to comment on management and company direction disagreements, because "She likes the way things are. So she can't really comment about the things that make people unhappy with it." So people can take that as they will, but that's definitely feeding some rrats.

Whatever the Cover executives are planning, they are of the opinion that it is worth losing those talents versus not implementing their new changes. I also agree that it's a mistake, but the fact that a significant portion of the talents are accepting of the management probably gives cover leadership an impression that they're justified. I'll remain optimistic for Hololive unless Miko graduates, that would truly be the seventh trumpet.

Concerts rarely if ever are actual profit earners. if once again "going public" was the culprit there I don't think they'd be pushing for the thing that is cutting into the company earnings. It's hard to beat the drum of "the investors only care about profits are driving the decisions" but then also say the investors are....... choosing to make less money.

I only want to push back a little insofar as this seems to assume that the investors are rational and well-informed enough to both (A) know what will make money and (B) consistently choose to prioritize those things. Maybe that's not what you meant to say here, but it should be obvious to all of us that "investors" as a class of people are not always going to succeed in steering towards profitability.

My personal dumb and baseless theory is that FWMC (and management's handling of them) have thrown off the vibe, and that's at least a contributing factor. This is based on nothing but my intuition about the social dynamics of a distant bunch of complete strangers I never interact with, so please give it the zero weight that it deserves.
