But the real fun cowboy-ish shooting sport (and a actually real sport) is BPCR matches. They use Antique or newly made reproductions of antique black powder rifles at distances out to and sometimes beyond 1,000 yards. there is A LOT of effort that goes into learning to shoot a rifle that far and developing a load that is accurate at distance. oh and its with iron sights.

The excessive celebration I mentioned was from players, not fans. Though, there is a level of excessive celebration for fans too. A pub doesn't have children, so worse moral behavior is tolerated. Using Irons at that distance with a BP cartridge is a bit different. at 1,000 yards you might have to factor in a dozen or more feet of drop depending on your velocity. the gun looks like you're firing into the sky.
