You would be delighted to know that the US is the world's largest food exporter
USA does not produce all the necessary foodstuffs to feed its population without significant cuts to their quality of life. You produce immense amounts of certain agricultural products, but not all of them are suitable for human consumption. Sudden tariffs do not leave enough time for the US agricultural sector to adapt and answer the consumer demand.

Edit: To be clear, you are self sufficient in terms of food production by numbers, but there's only so much corn, soy and sugar beets which you can pump into people's veins before things go wrong.

It’s not worth reasoning with these retards. They think turning into Japan and waiting 10 years for factories and farms that will never finish in production stage are actually a good thing. Apparently all the shit we actually need to survive will somehow just magically appear overnight.

Imma stop you right there, notice the 90% of "the most advanced chips". The dirty secret nobody really wants to talk about is that we don't actually NEED these "most advanced chips" and could go on for years on "five year old tech" if we had too.

We bring the old tech in-house, and build on that. No need to bring the latest infinitely expensive super small shit over.
Brainlet take. Not trying to be on the cutting edge of technology is how the EU and Japan have ended up where they are, and now they have to dedicate 10s of billions of dollars to trying to catch up, and by the time they've done that they will already be behind. The history of ASML is a great showing of what's needed to have the latest technology. Also, one of the most important aspects is not the chips themselves but everything required to build the chips. These advanced manufacturing jobs and everything else such as the machinery that has to be developed (like I mentioned with ASML), drives tons of high paying jobs.

Outside of the US and Taiwan (TSMC), China is one of the only other countries developing advanced chips now. If we let China get ahead and then they invade Taiwan, then they would have a near monopoly on the latest chips, which is not good for US national security interests. The US is also lagging behind which is why we're investing via the CHIPS act and putting pressure on TSMC to bring manufacturing to the US. This makes us better vertically integrated and less susceptible to supply chain shocks.

That said, I think it's sad that code efficiency has gone out the window due to the absurd speed of chips these days. It's a waste of resources and energy.

Ifyou think the stock market sucks today: wait until the reciprocal tariffs hit and the effects take hold.

Everyone is going to feel the price rises regardless of red or blue state.

How dare you. I could easily eat a cob of corn a day if I wanted to. That shit is great when it's in season.

You wound me. The tariffs are reciprocal, meaning they go away the moment the other country drops theirs. Canada and Mexico's tariffs are punitive, meaning they go away when they finally fucking do what we asked. You retards always ignore how these tariffs are conditional
