God the Emilia Perez section is mostly him defending himself and if I had a drink for every time he said "experience" I will die of alcohol poisoning.

Also saying that the Sound Design is too deep for you and is cool for being unique compared to Better Man and Wicked.

Now saying the songs move the plot forward despite the song that is nominated for best song having Zoe Saldana rant about hypocrites and corruption from the government but that is not ever really addressed in the plot. Its even funnier that he even admits that he conceded that some of the songs are not important, while also saying "THE PENIS TO VAGINA SONG IS INTENTIONALLY BAD"

Adam now claims that Emilia Perez was not meant to be seen as a good person in the movie despite Zoe Saldana's character being their biggest glazer and Selena Gomez taking a 180 in trying to save their life when finding out they were her ex-husband despite them doing horrible shit to her. He also acts like Zoe's character is morally objecting to "Emilia"'s blood money usage yet never once confronts him and is just as much of a suckup to Emilia as Smithers would be to Mr. Burns.

Then claiming the director didn't want to do deep commentary on Mexico despite a good portion of the movie having heavy social commentary about the missing bodies that the cartel cause and how that's a big deal.

Adam admits the movie does deserves its best nominations for "Best Makeup", "Original Songs", "Best Sound", "Best Supporting Actress", "Best Editing", "Best Cinematography"

Adam then says Emilia Perez isn't Oscar bait because its a weird movie despite the fact it touches on heavy topics like the transgender experience and takes place in Mexico which Oscar voters would eat up especially with the current state of American politics. There's also plenty of moments where the film does its best to look deep and insightful.

Now bitching about people who say that Adam is discredited as a critic because he liked Emilia Perez and going on weird tangents trying to apply that logic by saying "WELL THIS DIRECTOR LIKED EMILIA PEREZ SO BY YOUR LOGIC, THAT MEANS THE MOVIES THEY MAKE ARE BAD"

When there is a difference between film directors liking a movie and a film critic that tries to present themselves as a higher authority who likes it. Especially with Adam acting like he's much more profound and deep with his film criticisms than the typical movie critic which is why people think it discredits him as opposed to James Cameron liking Emilia Perez, which even then people could assume he liked it for supporting his friend, Zoe Saldana.

This whole Emilia Perez section is just him being really defensive while saying he likes the movie for its sound and being "different" and "weird", and spamming the word "perspective" and "experience", like its fine to like shitty movies, but funny how Adam sounds like the people he makes fun of when they react to him giving low scores for the Mario Movie and any superhero movie.

At least Ralphthemoviemaker has better taste than Adam.

As I thought, talk about The Brutalist which everyone on the podcast thought was really great 10/10, get everything all nice and smooth before addressing the elephant in the room about how one of the hosts likes a shitty movie that the other two don't like. Which alright fine that you like a shitty movie, there's a fair number of garbo movies I consider guilty pleasures, but again, what isn't is his extremely bizarre attitude towards it and people who think it sucks. Somewhat off-topic but I reminded of a time when I was young and watched a re-run of Rugrats on Nickelodeon on a Sunday and something was up with their satellite feed and there were no voices for any of the characters but the music and foley was still playing. It was weirdly fascinating to watch and notice foley for little things like a character's hands touching or putting their hands on their hips.

A lot of audio mistakes are pretty fucking obvious to a layman. Disparu (he's the first one that comes to mind) points out things like shitty ADR and changes in mic quality all the time and he knows he's just an idiot with a camera.

Yeah and he says that it is unique because they do that in the musical numbers even though Better Man also plays around with the environment with sound.

But it's not "Oscar bait" because its weird is the dumbest argument Adam made when its a fucking movie about a Trans Mexican in the Trump era that touches on themes like the Trans experience, Cartels, and other things.

Its even funnier how Adam acts like the movie is not trying to represent Mexico despite covering the missing bodies of the cartel which is a big deal, and he still chooses to be ignorant despite being well aware of how Mexicans hate it.

I couldn't even get to the Emilia Perez part because his take on Conclave was so terrible lol. His entire argument trying to oversimplify the plot to show that nothing happens and there's no stakes makes it sound like he never wanted to seriously engage with the film in any way. I felt like I was watching ragebait ("why do these people who have devoted their entire lives to the Catholic Church care so much about who is the new pope lmao, and why should I as an edgy atheist care?"). Any time his main criticism of a movie is that it's "boring", I know I'm in for a bumpy ride since it's like he sits at the cinema, gets bored, goes home, and tries to rationalize his boredom with allegedly objective criticism that can prove that the way his brain processed what he saw was intellectually sound.

I didn't even love the movie, but stuff like shitting on the movie's cinematography while also saying Emilia Perez deserved its Best Cinematography nom is absolutely wild. He should have just made a separate clickbait Emilia Perez video like every other YouTuber tbh.

I don't know why this angers me, but its perhaps the hypocrisy of getting annoyed that people aren't liking Adam's opinion of a movie while Adam is free to insult anyone who dislikes something he likes or insult people who like stuff he doesn't (like he generally always does for people who like blockbuster movies)

Also people are pissed at Adam because of how ignorant he is of other cultures and also is whining that people are making fun of him despite him making fun of other people.
