What people on both sides of the argument don't understand is that the age of consent is there for practicality. Sure, you're not a baby diddling pedophile for being attracted to a 17 year old, but you are still predatory to pursue them because society needs boundaries to protect minors. 18 may be higher than a lot of places and you can quibble over that, but don't be surprised when you get weird looks for it.
