*Russian accent*You, Americans, are so gullible and pretentious about yourself. Like you are a hub of the universe. You are not.*/Russian accent*
Despite Sam delivering very good but, in the end, very populist speech that is far from truth, the notion about *true Americans* is simply... untrue. Why? Well, let's be frank here. The sheer numbers of qualified specialists in a very narrow and competitive branch is limited. Specialists, not only with a degree of some Southwestern Forgotten by State College, but with expertise in some field that handful of people can talk about. I'll let myself for a little digression here. When I was attending my local university there was a professor lecturing about middle eastern history. And he told me that in Europe he can count several if not just handful of other scientists that not only strictly focus in this field but also are most cited in scientific articles, not due to narrow circle of academics lecturing this stuff but the ability to translate some archaic language that nobody can read. In long story short, the tremendous number of dissertations are based on a work of handful of people.
Back to Elon and this H-1B visa drama...
How many multibilioneers are out there in rocket business? Jeff Bezos tried with his Blue Origin with no visible results. There was this flop with Virgin Galactic by Richard Branson which led nowhere. Thing is that for a results you need a specialists from around the world, even from shitholes like India (which despite being developing country has a space program). People who gained their experience in number of failed/successful projects providing knowledge for next mishaps. Maybe there are eager and willing to work specialists nurtured on *American soil* but either they are actually employed and have some NDA's preventing them from hopping between space companies or their knowledge they can provide to salary expectations are doubtful, to say the least. I heard a story about some polish IT guy who got hired by SpaceX not due to his unquestioned wisdom but simply because he was available at a time for a task that no other IT guy would be willing to do for offered salary and expected time schedule.
It is very easy to whine about *true and honest Americans* being replaced by Jeets. In some cases it is true in some cases it is a little far-fetched, like here. While providing a comparison between Jeets *hijacking jobs* to *true and honest Americans* who *make shit flow* might be considered as poetic, in reality some people are replaceable and some don'ts. In my humble, honest and unbiased opinion Americans are just waking from slumber and are witness of changing world and they're afraid of not being the hub of the universe any more. You might be telling yourself soft and comfy lies that you are self reliant but the harsh truth is your country was built by immigrants. There is nothing "American" and "un-American" because the culture you are so proud of yourself is 200 years old? Maybe even less considering how much time it took to consolidate power of state upon union.
Google, SpaceX, Tesla, Intel, nVidia, Yahoo, Ebay are established by immigrants. I guess most of people in US consider them as Americans and I guess they also perceive themselves as Americans because it is a country which gave them a chance to prosper... but once such immigrant is considering that the pool of professionals on *American soil* is shallow or even depleted and is looking for workforce outside the borders it becomes "un-American". Frankly, you guys made a rules with paid universities lacking equality between all levels of society which is leading to lack of professionals in number of fields, again, leading to outsourcing such workforce from abroad.
Which begs a question - why are you whining about the rules you have established? I guess it was funny when Latinx were gardening and plumbing but when it came to more intellectually demanding jobs then it's time to stop, huh?
