So I can just "think for myself" by never reading any of this stuff to begin with? I have no idea what "prescriptive moralism" or any of this stuff is. It sounds like I just do stuff that I think is good without anyone telling me to do it already. The gist of it is that "prescriptive moralism bad, any benefit it gives is short-term, but godless prescriptive moralism is even worse, since it has no ambition"
It's all about thinking for yourself and not doing things just because society or someone in a position of authority told you it's good, but because you yourself think it's good, and not to be resentful of anyone that turns out to be better than you at something, and instead to just to cultivate yourself. It's nothing really revolutionary when you think about it, but there's a type of idiot to whom this is anathema, since their idea of "good" is killing yourself to potentially help someone who doesn't want help and will just dislike you for it (this is why he disliked Christianity)
I know people have their own belief/whatever systems and things that guide them in life but I'm kinda glad I never spent any time on stuff like this.
