Kiwi Farms, and other forums, were suffering from the "Ken Bone Hangover Effect" reaction disorder. Every single person who was built up, was eventually attacked and brought down - especially if they didn't deserve it. Ken Bone was like an obese, white Doctor Huxtable who had to eventually be destroyed for lusting after naked pregnant women on reddit because he wasn't sure about Queen Hillary.
It most certainly didn't help that this was Kiwi-Farms where people purposely antagonize other members for stickers and roast public figures/thread idols "For the lulz".
Chris Chan's forbidden love happened and Farmers were left without a designated flesh totem, The Johnny Depp trial and Rekeita filled that void. I think a majority of the members just wanted ONE thread where the subject wasn't a complete cow where people could congregate and have a semi-wholesome time without some incest or weird sexual deviancy leaking into a thread. JUST ONE!!!!!!!!!!!! So the pushback to anyone who questioned the mighty Balldo (even after the Balldo incident) was over-the-top for a forum of bare-knuckled shitposting cow destroyers who's faith in humanity (I know - a redditism - but it's appropriate) was circling the drain.
Nick was given the benefit of the doubt that no other cow has probably been given here, and will never be given again thanks to his ongoing antics. That's my opinion as someone who's been lurking and a member here since 2017 (lost the email to my original account so this is #2).
As someone who was vocally anti-Nick since pretty much the first time I became aware of him(I didn’t even know he existed until the Knoxville event), I always felt like the reason he was given such a high benefit of a doubt was because he seemed to many like a voice of reason who was in good standing with the “cool kids.”
Remember, at that time Dick was held in high regard and even Null was defending him him and New Project 2 pretty hard, Ralph hadn’t completely collapsed yet and was still mostly popular, and it was the height, or rather collapse period, of IBS. Nick meanwhile wasn’t playing an over the top yelling character like all of the others. He presented himself as a educated family man with Christian values. And because he defending Vic who was both an anime man and a victim of the woke feminist side, Nick was seen as a positive force by everyone.
My issues with him immediately came from him being an obvious alcoholic, even back then, way too open about sex even back then, and for thinking that of the advice and opinions he gave sounded terrible and near incel tier.
Yet anytime I tried to voice any of this, I got a ton of pushback to the point that there were times I had to lie and say I was a fan of his just to get even some of my points heard. And keep in mind, this is all pre-Rittenhouse and pre-Depp. I saw all of this shit that far back and he would only get worse and worse.
For me, the moment I finally felt like he crossed the point of no return was when he was temporarily banned from YouTube. I saw it for what it was, YouTube being YouTube. And I while the entire site was having a colossal meltdown, I noticed that all he was doing was grifting the fuck out of the situation to make money. And sure enough, he was brought back within a few days, but had already signed the rumble and locals contracts. He played everyone like a fiddle with the outrage he astroturfed. After that point he got even more comfortable and his already unwatchable show got even worse.
He would intentionally waste an hour of everyone’s time before getting into the topics at hand so that the youtube audience would be fucked over. He would take every opportunity to drink, and then the spiral that everyone saw started happening. But to me, it was just the same stuff I saw early in getting worse due to the superiority he felt from his new ego.
I do agree though, nobody will likely get the benefit of a doubt in the way Nick did ever again. There isn’t even a current up and coming personality in the sphere that’s getting praise in the same way. Surely there will be eventually, but they’re likely to be held to much harsher standard than Nick should have
