Not paying this renewal fee actually makes some odd sense if Nick's is looking at the most pragmatic end of his situation. He'd most likely have to give up his license to practice for a least a few years for any plea deal and most likely thought "what's the point?"

Some Latin phrases that might apply:

ecce homo - behold the man
radix malorum est cupiditas - The root of all evil is desire
sunt pueri pueri, pueri puerilia tractant - Boys will be boys and boys will do foolish things
vox clamantis in deserto - The voice of one shouting in the desert
vox nihili - The voice of nothing
falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus - False in one thing, false in everything
in cauda venenum - the poison is in the tail (meaning a story that starts good and ends in horror)
infra dignitatem - Beneath Dignity
ira deorum - The vengeance of the gods
nil admirari - Be surprised at nothing
non compos mentis - of unsound mind
nunc est bibendum - Now is the time to drink
odi profanum vulgus et arceo - I hate the unholy rabble. Keep them away
ophidia in herba - Snake in the grass.
chao ab ordo - out of Order comes Chaos
calix meus inebrians - My cup makes me drink
contra bonos mores - Against good morals
Good list, I'll add two more that come to mind:

Caveat emptor - Let the buyer beware.
Quos Deus Vult Perdere Prius Dementat - Those whom the gods wish to destroy they first make mad

When was the last time Nick made money from actually practicing as a lawyer, anyway?
Around 2018, iirc, at least for matters in court. He had around 28 court cases (per MCRO) between 2015 and 2018. He has 32 cases showing in MCRO, including April in 2024 (lol). Before that the last one was in 2021 (one case that year, the last entry for which is 9/27/2021: "Returned Mail, Attorney Nicholas Rekieta" LOL.). One in 2020. One (big) one in 2019.

That obviously wouldn't include any clients/ matters that did not involve a court case where he appeared as attorney of record, and per Aaron, Nick claimed urgent client matters in Minneapolis when the 'cule went out to dinner, so maybe he's been secretly building a power practice all these years. :tomgirl:

A good translation of "I will be us" into Latin would be "ego ero nos".

Bravo! I doubt I will be able to come up with anything superior. The best I has was:

Palleo pro pulvam

I fade/become sallow for powder

She's probably the only normal one in the family and decided to get the fuck away from the rest of them.

She is very much into alternative wellness and owns a yoga studio. Perhaps more fee spirit, but no major scandals beyond divorce.

I think you mean *April*

Also: if this is true, I hope that she doesn't kill anyone and instead takes Null's $7k for the bodycam footage. That'll buy her a few weeks to find something better

Null offered Kayla the 6k bevause she could copy it from what was provided to her attorney without having to pay the state. I do not think April has a copy for her case.

Null will never do silver coins again after the debacle of the CWC coins. But IF someone does make them, it’s customary for the Sovereign’s Lolcow’s head to face the opposite way to the previous ones.

So Nick’s head will have to face to the right.

As an aside, I did briefly consider the fact that when (EDIT: April) was doing her emo tweeting she might legit be getting ready to go crazy and kill everybody. Consider the following:
  • We think Nick kicked her out for one reason or another
  • She is begging begging begging for attention publicly, so maybe he blocked her phone
  • She may be homeless since she went from living with Aaron to living with Nick
  • All her legal troubles, whether we like it or not, are all Nicks fault. Keep in mind if Nick wasn't such an egomaniac, he would not have neglected his kids and livestreamed his narcotics usage to the world, prompting the police to investigate and, thus, catch April who otherwise would have been able to keep being a private coke whore instead of a public one
  • Nick is a notorious liar and probably strung her on this entire time
Would it really be that surprising if the thought crossed her mind to do something crazy? People have done insane shit for much less than this situation, as wild as it may be.
My money is still on Layla staging a "transporter accident" that wipes out the cucking crackheads. And possibly a portion of the real estate. "Beam Me Up Scotty"

I fundamentally disagree with this. April made a choice to do coke and enter a polycule with a married man with children. She may have somewhat pressured into it by Aaron or Nick or whatever, but she made every choice she did. And then she went back to him. I'm sure she knows *someone* who would be willing to house her to keep her off the streets.
My comment wasn't meant to say she was innocent or not willing etc, it was that -- in her mind Nick would be the reason she was caught. If Nick hadn't done all that shit and brought watching eyes onto her, she may not have been caught. Not at all absolving her of any of it, just speaking to her probable mindset. Criminals etc always have someone else to blame for their situation. I really doubt April is thinking "oh this is my fault, I shouldn't have done coke. This is what i get" she is probably thinking "if it wasnt for him doing this bullshit, I would still be doing coke and getting away with it." The reality of this specific situation is that Nick actually is the one responsible for her legal trouble because he is the one who got her caught. That's my line of thinking anyway. Unless we are narrowly defining legal trouble as "breaking the law to begin with".

Representing April on her speeding tickets. But the payment in that case was a blowjob under the desk while streaming to satisfy his exibitionist fetish. Even then, they didn't show to the hearing for the speeding ticket :story:

BREAKING NEWS!

As of November 1st, Nick Rekieta is no longer authorized to practice law in the State of Minnesota!

Wyświetl załącznik 6587095

I don't think he holds a license in any other jurisdiction, either.

NON practicing NON lawyer.

EDIT to add: I anticipated this might finally happen, so I kept checking this past week (including yesterday), and it flipped over to Not Authorized today.

He's probably got the money, so I think it's the CLE credits that fucked him. Somebody pointed out earlier they were due this year.

(However, if you'd like a good alternate theory, where CLE credits weren't the main issue, see here).

EDIT 2: Archive link added for posterity.
EDIT 3: Added link to post concerning CLE credits requirements.
EDIT 4: Typo.
Rekieta deserves no joy in this world.

Not after he fucked over Vic and caused his kids to be addicted to coke.

An family member of mine's job used to involve doing all the administrative stuff involved with law licences. A massive amount of her workload was chasing up payment from lawyers who hadn't paid their licence renewal fees on time.

Nick fails to pay a lot of things in a timely manner. I wouldn't assume he's being in any way strategic here.

I would have thought that about Lowax too. Desperation can send people into some dark places.
From the moment Lowtax was forced out of SA, many people saw his eventual suicide as inevitable. He still did it primarily out of spite, though.
