If this turns out to be true I'll be very surprised. Not because I doubt the artist would copy, but because A) that MHA character's mouth isn't particularly unique, and B) if it was copy-pasted or traced I'd expect it to have the right amount of teeth.

This would make more sense to me, but if I was using AI art (especially on a panel as simple as the one we're discussing) I'd take two seconds to double-check for any of the glaring errors everyone knows AI is notorious for.

I'd especially be doing this kind of quality control if I'd spent a year being a pedantic cunt to another comic creator and tearing his work to shreds for far less glaring errors.

CringleJingle was bragging on Twitter months ago about how he loved using AI to help "streamline" the storyboarding process because he could scribble some bullshit in Microsoft Paint and then feed it into an AI to make something closer to a storyboard to send to cheap lazy Mexican Keder LeBeau.

This is probably the result of him scribbling, feeding it into an AI, and then cheap lazy Mexican Keder LeBeau being too inexperienced to notice it to fix.

It would've been sometime late last year; I don't have an ideal setup to be digging through months old tweets to find it, unfortunately.

I am definitely being won over by the AI theory. There are so many little inconsistencies in this finished page that can't be explained by mere incompetence --if you were that incapable of drawing a man smashing through a wall there are a million reference images out there you could use or just copy-- but the art being produced by something that creates by aggregating millions of similar images perfectly explains why it looks close to passable but still uncanny.

I do think Jersh might be onto something with the artist having a cache of re-usable assets too, but I think the truth is it's a combination of all three: AI generated art, misusing an asset cache and an artist who just isn't very good at drawing.

We'll know for certain once the full book drops. I'm more excited than ever.

In this panel Vito clearly drew his hero tied against a tech bench and something crashes through the ceiling but the "artist" interpreted a detailed panel wall and a row of windows and the object just floating there. The bench is supressed entirely, the hero just stands in loose chains in the middle of the room.
This is the only panel with a detailed backdrop and it serves no purpose whatsoever, even the machine Vito drew in the first panel is gone in the finished art. Supposedly there ought to have been a laboratory backdrop for those panels, but perhaps those are difficult to generate with a consistent look.
