In my view there's a few scenarios., with the caveat that I do not know how to read the results of the drug test enough to say what it indicates.
One, the kid got into the cocaine without the parents knowledge as am accident. Nine year olds are known to get into things they shouldn't, ask any nurse and they can tell you unattended kids have ingested plenty of things from toys to cleaning products. This to me is the most logical answer. As for the taste mentioned above, trust me kids have drank Pine Sol, eaten rat poison, you name it some kid probably got into it.
Two, the kid was habitually stealing coke from the polycule because she is a neglected child who found something that makes her feel good without actually knowing what it is. I have heard of cases like that, it's very rare but it does happen. Even here I would never blame her, that's firmly on the parents. This is less likely, but possible.
Third, some adult in the house was giving the kid the drugs. If this is the case, that's one of the worst case scenarios. As of now I doubt it, but am open to any new evidence that would point to it.

The more I see clips of recent Nick the more I think there is more than even drugs and alcohol at play at this point in his mental decline. This is just speculation and I am in no way a medical professional but I would put money on Nick having a fungal infection eating his brain. If anyone is unaware this is one of the huge massive flashing neon reasons to stay away from alcohol. When people get "beer gut" it usually isn't just fat from the excess calories but fungal overgrowth causing their gut to be distended and gross. I'll use

clip of Nick to illustrate what I'm talking about. Notice how there is visibly more mass between his nose and his left eye than his nose and his right eye. His left eye also appears to droop more on the outside edge than his right eye. The real kicker is at 0:24 in the video you can see visible protrusions to the side of his nose that to me look like tendrils which wrap into his eye socket and nasal cavity. If the guy is a coke head who knows what kind of nasal damage could be going on, but to me its pretty compelling. Especially so considering we know he's been living off of a diet of sugar/carbs/alcohol. A fungal infection damaging his frontal lobe and hippocampus could easily lead to the change in personality we've seen in him. Nick if you are experiencing joint pain, muscle twitches, difficulty sleeping without sugar, random fatigue, sensitivity to sunlight, impaired short term memory, vision changes (ahem like needing to close an eye to read chat), pain around your gut, and nausea then you may want to get medical help or something for that instead of trying to treat it with stimulants and more alcohol.
