I think this illustrates part of Nick's problem as well. He was the one who got his stream going and he did manage it in a way that helped it's success. However, he didn't have to work to get there. My understanding was he was a part time lawyer living off a trust fund. Then he stumbles into streaming and it hits a sweet spot. The lack of responsibility and hard work building his life seems to have left an open space for his selfish, self-pleasing inner frat boy to thrive.

I don't know what worse looks like at this point but I think I don't want to know.

So what do we have, just in THIS case:
  • A mandated reporter, so coming from a concern/complaint of children, reports the problem a week ago.
  • Nick has that suicide stream and is arrested the next day.
  • Arrest Complaint was a Class V felony possession with a firearm enhancer.
  • Kayla gets the same.
  • April gets just the drug charge.
  • NOW, after a preliminary investigation, April goes home but Nick and Kayla are upgraded to a Class II Felony with firearm. Nick gets an endangerment charge. Kayla's is different alleging she allowed physical or sexual abuse. Where everyone is now hoping it's only physical abuse for crying out loud.
But that's just on a complaint, search with PRELIMINARY testing and several pieces of unknown evidence. An arrest and arraignment.

CPS hasn't even gotten started. There'll be forensics, investigations, interviews, etc. by the state. There's a very high likely hood they will fail at their conditions and Nick is showing no contrition, no humility... only embarrassment.

Yeah, there's more. There's worse Coming.

When I was involved, as a child, in very similar situations the mandatory reporters who were schoolteachers somehow found a way to use that status to threaten the kids with trouble. Basically, “if what you say is true you might be taken away from mommy because I have to tell the police. Do you really want that?”
Like no, I don’t want to be taken away from mommy I want mommy to get better. So you lie. There’s a lot of people out there who truly don’t care, and just view children in these situations like stray dogs. I believe the priest in this case is a real nigga who did the right thing, but not a lot of people know the other side.
Trust me, every single second of every single part of this is absolutely horrible for the kids. I know I’m alogging, but I would genuinely beat the ever-loving fuck out of Nick and Kayla right now for what those kids are going through. I would break them like dry twigs were it legal and witching my power. Words can’t describe how much I hate people like that because I know first hand what it does to the children.
They will never recover, scars fade but they’re still there in the end.

To be fair, though, what else can you do? It's damned if you do, damned if you don't. The child's feelings in thsi situation are somewhat irrelevant as you're the adult, and by definition you know better. You know that they're being endangered, you know that they could start digging into dope dad's stash for some blow out of frustration, you know that they could start displaying untoward sexual behaviour towards even adults and one another because of the throuple's influence and the trauma that results from it, you know that they could end up in every kind of shitty situation and you can't rely on mommy getting better.

So you do what you have to do. You report, and you hope to God that the pigs actually do their goddamn fucking jobs for once instead of wasting taxpayer dollars, the global supply of donuts, and oxygen. Whatever happens next is absolutely not your fault. Reporting is a selfless act because the pastor in question had his identity revealed, and is eating some shit for it, and what did he stood to gain from reporting as opposed to standing idly by and spending his time pursuing his fancies? Nothing. And that's how a very worrying amount of people on this gay Earth think. The pastor might be harassed and slandered, he may be called a rat and a snitch, and he may not have gained anything earthly from it, but he's storing up treasures for himself in Heaven, that's for fucking sure.
