I think it’s more-so that some people, especially those that don’t know forum culture (in general), see the “free speech” label and think they can fuck threads up repeatedly without any awareness of how the medium works.
Forum’s only work when there is a level of negotiation between posters (even in arguments), if you are posting something not related to the thread, and you’re just being annoying without responding to other users concerns/statements or otherwise, you’ll probably be banned.
Join the fediverse if you just want to shit in the street (many instances will accept you, lots of kiwis out there) and you have the same free speech, just without much structure which will be good for some retards.
Imagine the scenario where you are hanging out with your friends; some jackass comes in who knows one of you, starts shitting in the middle of the living room, talking over everyone and when someone tells him to “shut up” he screams “buh muh free speech!”
…You’d throw him out too; like Null does, as far as an admin goes, he’s doing a pretty good job.

If anything that's why Josh is going full GodMod and being very heavy rn. It wasn't just catler. You had the DSP shit which I argue kicked off the whole mess. Literal mods were youtubers making money off the thread and were dismissing reports of ban worthy behavior. Shit has been pretty off rails for a while now.

Nothing has gotten out of hand. Null is constantly bitching about the state of things, but he shoots down suggestions saying he's considered it all before. He puts on a show of being upset. I don't understand why everybody takes everything he says 100% seriously. His posting style is just bellicose.
