I haven't got very far yet, but after 30 or so pages, that's the perfect word to describe this book.

You know when you're reading something but not really paying much attention, and when you get to the end of a paragraph you realize you have no idea what you just read?

That's been Starship Repo for me so far. The issue is, I was paying attention. Yet I had to re-read so many sentences, it was becoming really annoying. I swear I'm trying my best not to let my personal bias influence me, but I'm at a point I honestly don't think the reason for so much clunkyness is my - admittedly poor - English comprehension.

He's just bad at foreshadowing, setting up a situation in a clear manner, and using terms that make sense both in the context of the story and to the reader. It feels like watching a badly edited movie, one where the editor decided the "uneventful" scenes were not necessary and cut them. But in hindsight, they were the scenes which added motive, context and cohesion to the "exciting" ones.

I get the feeling he tries to emulate good writers without understanding what makes them good at their job.

He has said that he never re-reads books, so he doesn’t even practice the most basic step in becoming a good writer.

He probably doesn’t even reread his own drafts, thinking he bangs out pure Shakespeare on the first scribblings.

In my drunken patless state I read this as "maybe he slipped and killed niki" and im envisioning him falling down the stairs after tripping over one of his many stacks of unsold books and crushing her like a bug under his weight before smugly telling her "no child I did not fall on you, that is simply not true" as she breathed her last.

That’s also feasible.

I know most people think she is an active participant in his delusional conspiracy theories, but I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she is brainwashed and emotionally broken by living under constant fear of Fatrick somehow killing her in a ridiculously fat way.
 
What will Pat do when he won't get his book published? Will he blame the stalker children for this? Will he tell his manager to enjoy prison?

He will just keep on claiming that he is working on notes and comments until his alleged agent finds a vanity publisher who doesn’t require cash up front.

After xeeting up a storm about his imminent publishing date, he will get the bill
In the post and either just plain not mention it again or make a very public and fat campaign against this publisher.

If he was smart he would self publish, costs literally nothing and might actually reach an audience that way. Hell, there's been some real success stories with self publishing over the years, but they've been driven by great writing and good word of mouth.
However, as we know, Fatrick is not smart, nor will his pride allow him to self publish, so much of his ego is tied up in being a 'published author'. His writing is pedestrian at best, and any word of mouth he could generate would instantly be ruined the moment Pat calls one of his potential readers a stalker child.
