A federal judge has dismissed attempts to dismiss a pair of lawsuits brought by the families of those killed in the 2022 Buffalo mass shooting.

A group of attorneys representing the victim's families are suing companies like Meta, YouTube and Snapchat. They allege those sites are addictive to young people, and in 4chan's case, provides a platform for extremists to radicalize users.

It is cited that the Buffalo mass said he watched the 2019 Christchurch, New Zealand, shootings on 4chan, which "inspired" him to kill 10 Black people and injure three others at a Tops grocery store in East Buffalo last May.

4chan's lawyers argued the cases should be dismissed as the company isn't located in New York, an argument the judge rejected.

It's a civil suit, not a criminal one. Civil court's worse than family court, it's why OJ was able to be sued for a stupid amount of money despite the acquittal.
