Why is everyone obsessed with fishtanks?

I saw a fish tank at the dentist today. Was bored and started pointing at the biggest fish. Big fish loved it and followed my finger. 10/10 fish tank.

Low maintenance pets for the lazy masses. Good decoration. The refuse water is incredible fertilizer for plants.

I respectfully disagree. Although it does get easier after you get everything dialed in.

>ph levels
>nitrite levels
>nitrate levels
>water changes
>filter cleaning
>water temperature
>diatoms
>quarantine tanks for new or diseased fish
>sups for water/fish/plants
>fucking pond snails

Yeah it seems like a goddamn job maintaining one, I would go the terrarium route if I were that kind of guy because at least you can take reptiles out and pet them.
