Steven Universe Artist Quits Twitter Over Fan Harassment

It's funny to me that people actually think these people will cease to exist when Steven Universe ends.

They're parasites, they attach themselves to whatever's popular. Homestuck, Uindertale, and Overwatch are all shining examples of how little attachment they have to properties while acting like the thing that has their attention at the moment is the single most important thing in their lives.

Fandoms are temporary, but retards... Retards are forever.

Heh, those fandoms (and hell, let's throw in the new Voltron cartoon, too, since I've seen some exceptional stuff that makes my blood pressure spike) are all pretty much part of the 'Migratory SJW Fandom', too. Basically like a Migratory Slash Fandom, but with SJW-y elements instead of obsessing over two hot white guys pounding each other in the ass in someone's Barista AU fan fic with Alpha/Beta/Omega dynamics. If you don't know... don't ask

My guess is that one of three things will happen to cause the Steven Universe fandom to die:

1- The show ends on its own accord. Seems like the show has a finite story with a beginning and end, so this seems likely.
2 - The show gets cancelled. There'll be efforts to save it, but ultimately it won't amount to much because by the time the news breaks, the show staff will have already gone off to other pastures.
3 - The show does something so incredibly ~problematic~ in the eyes of the fandom, it creates a massive fissure and the majority of the Migratory SJW Fandom that followed it will move on to something else. Although if it didn't happen after Bismuth -and Bismuth was fucking polarizing-, who knows what could happen that'd cause this.

I could see it being a mix of 1 and 3, personally.

Yeah, the salt will be of the "Here's how it SHOULD have ended" variety.

Someone tried to convince me that if more media pandered "marginalized socially aware teens" less vitriol would happen. That's some grade A bullshit. These petulant brats are not some enlightened poor souls, they are nerdy basement dweller brats with a boost for kewl and progressive social justice points. The same thing from 10 years ago, except now they have "uwu valid motivator desu" excuses to back up their bullshit.

@Tlazolli Wow, it's the Indigo Children phenomenon, all over again..... "Brats are brats because they're too smart to function in the dumbed-down world, and it's only natural for them to lash out"

She should've said something when that one artist was driven to a suicide attempt by the fandom. That was a really serious situation, it even got media coverage.

The shows creators were actually very on top of telling off toxic people.

Then tumblr got involved, went full REEEEEEEEEE mode, and they just gave up on telling people to stop being offended.

This happened around the end of the first season a little over a year ago

My favorite memory of SU as a fandom is when 4channers made a tumblr that recolored all the characters with white skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes.

Tumblr lost its shit, and linked Ian, a fat black guy and one of the shows creators a picture of his cartoon profile pic recolored as a fat Aryan guy.

Ian responded by changing his profile pic to the white version of himself for a week lol.

Is it a coincidence the SU fandom became batshit insane once Garnet revealed she's made of lesbians
SJW brand tumblr used to hate much of SU during the first season, calling it racist, claiming it's culturally appropriating, and sexist because it still made the main character a filthy penis-haver.

But as soon as the theory of Garnet being a fusion of not only two gems, but two gems actually in love, came to be a reality; they rolled in like they owned this shit the entire time.

Funny how none of these twits bring up the cultural appropriation of Indian deities with Opal and Sugalite anymore, or how somehow Garnet having a third eye was racist.

Good times, Season 1.

You know, what's sad about this is that the SJWs could have made real progress here. It's a cartoon that features strong female protagonists, an ethnically diverse cast and for possibly the first time on children's TV, openly portrays same-sex relationships. At the same time, it's been critically acclaimed for its writing, characterisation and world-building. Then the very people who should be celebrating the series turn on it because it's just not good enough for them.

What kind of example does this set? What does it say about trying to be progressive? If I was a network exec, I'd be inclined to just say "fuck it, let's just go back to making the same shows we used to, being politically correct is nothing but trouble."

That "never good enough" is the real sticking point isn't it?

You can never provide enough evidence to prove to a conspiracist that they're wrong.... because they don't exist to find the truth, only to build a narrative that supports their world-view: the Powers that Be run everything, so their own failures are completely out of their control and responsibility, and they are heroes for daring to not roll over like "sheeple" and accept it. Any and all criticism directed at them is an orchestrated attempt by said powers to discredit them.

Similarly, you can never provide enough progressivism and diversity for SJWs to be satisfied... because they don't exist to increase diversity and progressive thought, only to build and maintain a narrative that supports their world-view: the Powers that Be are sexist, ableist, racist scum, and they are heroes for daring to oppose them. Any and all criticism directed at them is an orchestrated attempt by said powers to discredit them.

Ostatnio edytowane:
Don't know if it got covered, but the cows want a Jasper-Peridot "ship".
If the characters were humans, Jasper would have been a psychopathic abusive adult feminist of sorts in personality. Peridot would be a child, because of size and graduating "kindergarten".

Adult-child relationship.

And these people try to call pedophile shipping problematic.

I seriously think the fans are a therapist's worst nightmare
