Gaiman has chosen Black talent for all his television adaptions for decades. He's also made references to African mythology too. He's not virtue signalling, I think he's a genuine antiracist.I feel like if Gaiman wanted to make Death a black butch dyke he easily could have done it in the original comic. But he didn't and the character was great as she was. is more like he fell into a bandwagon and is doing it for current year pandering which is insulting to long time fans. Same as J.K Rowling retconning Hermione as black for brownie points. In the case of Death is like making Superman´s costume purple, an extremely iconic design that is ruined now.
I don't actually know if black Death was a Gaiman was on board with or just a Producer decision like in most shows but i wouldn't put it past him, he is certainly the type.
I find it funny how my mind blanked that shit from memory until you brought it up, it was so hamfisted it became a repressed memory.I already thought the netflix Castlevania show was mediocre, but the introduction of the villain Carmilla turned the show into a joke.
It's so obvious they wanted to have an epic 9000 IQ girlboss with her, but after her introduction she does fucking nothing besides announcing her motivations to others while she orders them to do stuff for her.
She verbatim says "I want to kill old men and take their stuff".
It's funny too because the show had legitimately good female characters in her sisters and in the main character Syfa, but for some reason the audience is supposed to think Carmilla is a threat despite Carmilla never actually accomplishing anything on her own. She sends her sisters off to accomplish nothing and then wonders why she is betrayed by a character she gave no reason not to betray her. Not to mention her death scene was completely overblown and unearned.
That's why I mostly watch horror from below the year 2012. I'm proud to say I've never seen a Jordan Peele or A24 film.Horror in general has gone to shit I think since politics started being shoved into everything. Movies are all just "THE REAL MONSTER WAS [Men,Humans,Christianity, etc.] and they spend 90% of the movie just focusing on shoving their awful message down your throat and maybe if you are lucky you get 5 minutes of a cool monster, Antlers was one that really disappointed me after they spent so much time making sure you knew that the MC was abused as a kid.
Horror gaming isnt in as bad of a shape but at least in the indie scene we have a lot of devs who make a cool demo concept but then spend all their time virtue signaling on twitter and either just add some tranny flags or something to their game and never finish them so we end up with thousands of half finished demos and nothing else
Then we have horror art, where artists post some cool art and then for no reason at all feel the need to either virtue signal or let everyone know they are a tranny or lgbwhatever, and in some instances they spend more time crying about whatever politics and even making political drawing instead of posting cool horror art
Ugh, it's already starting. Half the time I look up gay art on twitter, one of the men has a fucking vag. Y!Gallery's revival is accepting "transmasculine" men too. That just ruins it all for me.There is barely any lesbian shit on Etsy. It's all 'queer' or 'sapphic' and every 'female' illustration has a fucking cock. Anyone who calls themself lesbian has been driven off unless there's some troon shit for sale in their shop. There's still some gay stuff left, but give it time, the FTMs will wipe them out too. 80% of the shops I look at have troon shit in their inventory. I've maintained the determination to never buy from a troon supporter for quite some time now, but people who won't bend the knee to HRT poisoned crossdressers are getting increasingly rare.
Dude the 3rd single from that album is Vedder musing about school shootings. They ran Get Out The Vote campaigns and were carbon-offsetting their tour's environmental impact by the mid 1990's. There never was a time when Pearl Jam wasn't political, it's just cringier than it used to be because they're middle-aged and uncool now.I just want to say that I listened to Ten in full, and it was one of the best rock albums ever created. It shocks me that the group that made “Black“ would end up getting randomly political during the late 2010’s.
I've heard the series is actually great, and i've been considering rewatching it, but that episode was just so outstandingly bad. Is it worth rewatching if I just skip it and the episode prior?
All the time, it's just that they're almost always interracial couples.Do Western corporate pop culture works from Current Year even show straight "cis" romance anymore?
(even though I don't really keep up with them it seems they don't)
Honestly, Bojack IS a very good series, but I agree that the abortion episode was incredibly annoying. They tried to give lip service to the "other side" but then they pulled the whole "weh weh weh, women getting abortions have to make suuuuch a hard decision and the joking about wanting the fetus to feel pain is just a joke! really!"It's probably already been said many times before (in this thread), but Bojack Horseman's abortion episode killed the whole series for me. It was so wildly out of place and bad that it was almost hysterical, and broke my immersion for the entire rest of the show. It genuinely felt like the entire writing team went on holiday and the substitutes were all first-year college students who were perpetually high on weed, and all they could think about was sex and politics. The lead-in to it in the episode prior was so absurd that I thought it was parody, so when the abortion episode came on and made sure I knew it wasn't I just sat there slack-jawed in disbelief for something like 20 minutes or however long it and the next episode lasted for. It probably didn't help that I always found Diane really annoying and needy and dreaded her coming on-screen, so focusing the entire episode on her was already guaranteed to turn me off. Not to mention the episode is titled Brrap Brap Pew Pew. It didn't feel real.
It's been years since I watched the whole series. Still haven't rewatched since. I remember the show having some other good episodes- that dialogueless one under the sea was the best, and the lobotomy episode gave me nightmares for a solid week straight because I decided to watch it at 12am with the lights off, but I can't remember anything else because I was caught so off-guard by the aforementioned episode. All that comes to mind for other episodes that I remember is the one about Mabel from Gravity Falls dying, or the lengthy funeral talk.

I completely forgot about that one. I guess it sort of just blended into the white noise that the show became by then, because otherwise I totally would've noticed it. What season was it in?I honestly found the gun episode to be way worse. Suddenly there were shootings everywhere with Hollywoo giving lip service "Thoughts and prayers." But then Diane discovers that hey, wielding a gun actually gives her some feeling of power and a decent defense strategy should she be in a bad situation. But then since women start buying guns, the lawmakers suddenly ban them because they don't want women to be armed. It was the stupidest fucking thing I've ever seen.
The Battlefield series... "luckily" only started getting terminally woke by the time the gameplay started plummeting in quality too.
2042 sucks wet ass, not even getting into how many of the characters are middle aged women that shouldn't be in combat anyway.
I feel the same, most of his stuff is great, "How TV Ruined Your Life" is a must watch, but sometimes he grovels for the woke establishment too much. The closest thing to a "waah, muh politics" bailout (because I usually tend to view disagreeing with someone politically to be a retarded reason to not support them and their works, they have to do something horrible or defend a legitimate cunt/shitstain publicly after all the evidence has made the rounds) I ever got to was Charlie Brooker siding with Anita Sarkessian who was at her peak phase of behaving like Jack Thompson with a Vagina. And even then, I still watch Brooker's old stuff (because his more recent works grew duller and more predictable with time, regardless of politics).
If you watch a three minute commercial break on cable TV in the US you'll see more interracial couples than you will in a day out in the real world. Whites often make up fewer than half of the actors in these commercials, so maybe the people in commercial world don't have much choice. All the time, it's just that they're almost always interracial couples.
